This is insane! All the people that we are trying to go after are just being swept up by other high rollers. We need a PG, PF, and a backup center. Where the hell are we find those players?

    :)

Yep. I rather have Hinrich two years from now than get a average guard now (meaning, all the good FA guards are drying up).

"9. You will never hear me, or anyone in the Mavs comment on rumored trades. I learned my lesson the hard way about this when I first got into the league. I was playing basketball with a friend, and we had a trade about to go down with another team. I told some of my buddies at the gym about the trade. They told some people, the next day we were reading about the proposed trade in the paper. The other team got very upset and killed the deal. Lesson learned.

This is why prior to our deals , like the deal with the Wizards for the #5 pick, or last summers trades, you never heard a word about the deals prior to them happening. Those trades caught everyone by suprise and so will anything else that we do."

It's not like all the PG on our wish list already went to other team, it's just they might sign with other team. But you never know what will happen after wednesday, rockets still might pull something out...

Nothing is official, it's all "verbal" agreement, i can claim i never said about whatever on Wednesday, hehe. Let's just look at Boozer as a great example. LOL

So let's wait till july 14th..

With the money that's being thrown at the Adonal Foyles and Mehmet Okurs of the world, I'm glad we're being patient. The contracts currently being awarded make both Juwan and Mo T look like a bargain.

All we need is a solid, steady PG and a decent center. If we can get a good PG the Rockets shouldn't have a problem securing a decent big body.

Why do we need a PF? We have THREE of them. Weatherspoon, Taylor, and Howard. Taylor and Howard are both capable of being starters at the position.

We do need a backup center. But NO backup center(especially if he's not going to play PF at times) is worth 6-years $40 mil, which is the going price apparently for some of these players.

We also need a PG. But it's not like the Rockets were targeting everyone. Arroyo was a longshot anyway because of his RFA status. JVG apparently didn't like Hudson. Fisher is demanding too much money, it seems.

The only player we truly missed out for FA is Brent Barry.

I say we acquire Antonio Daniels and Jerome James from Seattle, and let our MLE expire.

Then next season, we'll be able to do some more major re-tooling of role players because:

    Daniels final year
    James comes off the books
    Weatherspoon final year
    Pike final year
JJ off the books I believe or final year
    AG off the books
    Boki off the books
    Lue off the books

If we package Spoon and Pike together, that's a nice ~8M in expiring contracts that some teams would love to have.

    Bright future.

I agree. Howard and Mo Taylor are pretty imo. The Rockets need a PG and back C more. Padgett should be resigned.

I think GMs must read this forum, to get ideas on who to go after.

It seems that the minute we start talking about a good value point guard, they get snatched up, by another team.

    :D :D :D :D

    How tasteless.

We all know he doesn't come off the books till 2012, so why must you rub it in?
