I wouldn't have a big problem with the US Navy blowing them out of the water, if it really happened as described. (I assume it did, but remember the Gulf of Tonkin) It is unacceptable behavior.

    Impeach Bush.

So you give the benefit of the doubt to the Iranians. You liberals have lost it.

Strangely, this kind of stuff is neither unusual or unexpected. US and Chinese ships and fighter planes have had all sorts of strange encounters over the past several years and these kinds of things happened in the cold war regularly.

Any time you have military forces of two hostile nations that close to each other, you'll have these kinds of skirmishes. Both sides will throw a fit and then move on.

If we were more judicious in our use of military force, we could deal with threats (and yes, it was a threat) like these better. We should have blown them out of the water. As it is, with our warmongering since the fifties, we can't defend ourselves without questioning our motives.

Should read, "without the world questioning our motives."

I agree that it is weird to believe the Iranians over the US administration.

I'd argue them equally self serving and capable of incredible lies.

What does this have anything to do with bush, at all? I understand people hating the admin, but labeling everything that happens as part of some Bush Admin "scheme", is borderline schizo

very true. The navy "should have" eliminated the threat once it was made...but the sad state basically has the military in a position to not engage until they hit you first.

you have no room to chide others when you continue to give the benefit of the doubt to the bush administration, who have proven themselves over and over again to be nothing more than a bunch of liars and criminals. you lost it a long time ago tradertexx.

I think everyone knows Bush has wanted to go at Iran for some time, there's been questionable Intel coming out from the admin about Iraq(WMD??) and Iran(they stopped development of nukes in 2003!?)... while we were told otherwise.

Bush Snr. used similar tactics before Libya was bombed.

The Gulf of Tonkin occurred during a Democrat administration. I don't know what the official story has finally become, or if there is one, but it's very easy to get into a "he said-he said" sort of thing when no one can call you a liar.

Is this Iran story true as told? Maybe. Is the U.S. out there trying to get something started and then providing half-truths or untruths after an incident occurs? Maybe.

It's pretty darn hard to mistake a US GUIDED MISSILE DESTROYER.

You've got to be out of your mind to believe the Iranians on this one.
