A bad loss, but is it undignified to officially hate the Grizzlies? I mean, they are a loser expansion team that has never had a winning team, and that would sell their firstborn just to get an 8th seed.

But are they worthy of hate? I don't like their players, very whiney, especially Pau, he b****es and moans after ever bad shot.

So, are they worthy? Can they get up there with Utah in the pantheon of hating?

nope. the way hubie and jerry have turned that team around, you can't help but to respect them. just hope that kobe isn't all that serious when considering his free agency.

well i've hated pau ever since last year when he managed to shoot 16 free throws in one game and then actually repeated that feat the next time we played them, AND HE STILL WHINED AFTER EVERY SINGLE PLAY it seemed. he was shooting enough free throws to make jordan blush and he was still complaining.

and posey just got put on the hate list. playing completely out of his mind and draining 3's which he never did for us just to make us lose a game. F him.

In all honesty, is there a bigger whiner in the NBA today? There may be, I just don't know of who it would be. Pau Gasol is taking crybabiness to a seriously new level. That dude just does not shut the hell up. I can't believe he didn't get T'ed up after kicking the ball after one of his classic whines.

No doubt talented, but a major whiner.

Come on Clutch, are you kidding me? Bigger whiner than Pau? You don't have to look too far to find him/them...

LOL .... believe me, I thought about Mobley and a few of his teammates, but I really believe Pau is worse.

do what works i guess. i wish yao would whine more. the grimace, pout, walk away routine is getting old.

doesn't francis whine as much as gasol... if not more? gasol is just a flat out baller. he knows what he's doing. he has one of the best teachers in the game.

I'm so glad Clutch posted this. I hestitated about posting the same thing. GASOL IS LIKE VLADE DIVAC TIMES TEN but minus the flops. Gasol has got to be the biggest softee I have EVER seen. Sure, he had a good night and superficially talented as heck, but he's 7 FEET TALL for chrissakes. AND he plays out of position. He would never thrive in any other system if he were to play straight up center. Tonite, we had MoT do a heck of job defensively on Gasol yet giving up 4, 5 maybe even 6 inches when Gasol is posting OR fronting him. The whining is absolutely ridicuous. You didn't have to be able to read lips to see the guy complaining constantly.

When I think great European players, I think Peja, Dirk, and the late Petrovic, but NOT Gasol.

Moreover, I hate to say it, but I saw Posey copping an attitude out there too.

Bottom line: I see Memphis as Rox Public Enemy #1

there ain't no way cuttino is in pau's class as a whiner. kobe is a huge whiner and iverson may whine more than them all but i think he actually gets banged around enough that i'll give him a little slack. pau is just ridiculous. like i said, 32 ft's in 2 games against us and never did he shut up. apparently when a possession starts, the refs should just blow the whistle and let pau have 2 free throws to make him happy.

At least Mobley looks respectable when he whines

Something about the way Pau's face contorts reminds me a whiny little baby angry that you pulled away his lollipop.

On one play one of our guys pushed Pau in the back for a rebound. The foul was called, and he still stares at the ref and complains. Also on the charging foul where he clearly lowered his shoulder and bowled over taylor. He threw a tantrum and almost kicked the ball.

Lorenzen Wright did a lot of whining. Who the hell does he think he is, Karl Malone?

Pau is now my least favorite European player, and he has taken Dirks spot. Hell, he might be my least favorite player in the whole league.

It's kind of nice to see people angry with the opposing team and it's players for a change. I swear, this board has seemed like it was filled with Yankee type fans this season.

Perhaps, but I don't know any player that whines more after they do get the call than Mobley. Francis isn't much better. He stops playing to argue with the ref while the rest of his team plays 4 on 5.

Anyway, back on topic... the Grizzlies aren't hateworthy - they haven't been good enough to hate.

Yes. I hate the Grizzlies! Of course..because they have beat us twice...we should have won tonight. I wish our fans were this emotional and excited though..great game..atmosphere wasn't that good...well changed a lot! TNT commentators were just horrible. And they kept on talking about the Grizzlies...and Pau Gasol..I really don't like him that much. It doesn't seem like Cato likes him too much either. But they are a good team. GOod rivalry I guess. We must beat them next time. MUST!

There's a difference between just plain arguing with the ref and out and out whining.

Example, Hakeem argued with the refs a lot, as does Steve and Cat, but as for pure whining, Gasol (and most of the Utah Jazz from 1990-2002) are in a class by themselves, along with former Yankees OF Paul O'Nell --- strike three right down broadway, swing and miss, stare, throw your helmet, scream a curse at the umpire, every single time.
