Price heading to Falcons, pending NFL approval

The Falcons and the Bills have agreed to a deal that would send wide receiver Peerless Price to Atlanta for the 23rd pick in April's draft.

The deal still must be approved by the NFL because Price is a "franchise player" for the Bills. That is not expected to be an obstacle, and the Falcons have called a news conference for 1 p.m. ET today to make what they are calling "a major announcement."

Talks between the Bills and Price's agent, Tim McGee, on a longer-term contract have proven fruitless. Price, in fact, has made it clear that he wants to play in Atlanta, where he makes his offseason home, and has declined to visit with any other franchises.

The four-year veteran enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2002, posting 94 catches for 1,252 yards and nine touchdowns. The former Tennessee star was a second-round choice in the 1999 draft.

Thy have the plan to sign Takeo Spikes, Draft another CB, and then try to sign Sam Adams. It's not a bad plan. They just need the money. Plus they still need to sign Hollis for 1 million.

Seeing as how he doesn't really want to be in Buffalo anymore, it wasn't too insane.

they now have a first round pick, after trading theirs to N.E. for Bledsoe.

They already have Moulds, and they have a weak D, Moulds is the #1 receiver on that squad, so maybe they plan on picking up some defense with that pick. It's not like they gave up Owens, Moss, Boston, Jimmy Smith, Marvin Harrison, Hines Ward, or Torry Holt. If they franchise him, they have to pay him, the average of what the top 5 paid receivers. I don't think its that bad.

If anyone is insane, it's Arizona for letting Boston go without ANY compensation!

To have 2 receivers catch more than 90 passes on the same team? I thought the Bills would of held onto Price and build something off of it.

I would kill for these stats...

    94 Catches
    1252 Yards
    13.3 Yards Per Catch
    9 TDs
    2 Fumbles, 1 Lost

Now Vick is going to have that quality receiver to throw it to.

It will be interesting to see if Price can succeed as being THE got to guy on the team, without another star receiver on the other side of the field.

Peerless didn't want to be in Buffalo, so it's a decent deal for both sides. Besides, don't forget about Buffalo's second-rounder from last year, WR Josh Reed. That guy had a stellar college career at LSU, and I think he's gonna be a good #2 receiver for the Bills.

The real potential loser in all of this is the wide receiver Atlanta was going to draft with the #23 overall pick (most likely Kelley Washington)...

They just pissed away any chance of winning for a long time.

No Boston or Plummer - idiots!

And Price going to Atlanta - that's just scary, now Vick will have a real target, watch out for the Dirty Birds...

Jake Plummer is overrated. Look for Arizona to draft a guy like Grossman, Boller, or Simms this year.

I think Plummer's time had run out in AZ. He needed a fresh start. But Boston? Sure he had attitude problems, but the man is a beast. 6'2" and 242 lbs!!! He's Terrell Owens, WITH the baggage!

No way you give him up for nothing!

San Diego is going to be deadly next year.

As Barkely said, it's better to be total crap than mediocre. They can begin to rebuild around some new stars.

If you're talking about AZ, what's the point of rebuilding if you never hold onto anyone?

AZ has been in a perpetual state of rebuilding for decades with one playoff win in 50 years. Nothing works there until Bill Bidwill goes away. The L.A. Clippers of the NFL minus all the free agents to be!

stellar? thats a huge understatement, Josh Reed was the best WR in College Football in 2001, I remember he had a game where he caught something like 25 passes in 1 friggin game. He should make a very adequate replacement for Peerless.

Peerless did the right thing, He lives in ATL in the offseason, He'll get to play with Mike Vick and Warrick Dunn. This offense should be one of the most explosive ever seen in the NFL.

The AZ Cards are the worst franchise in all of pro sports. Even worse than the Bungles.

AZ will select Terrell Suggs, as a PR move to draw local fans.

JAke Plummer sucked. His TD:INT ratio has to be among the worst of all-time, for a 5+ year starter.

Wanna see how bad Price does in Atlanta? the reason is stats are so padded is because Moulds was double teamed ALL the time, so Price had 1 on 1 coverage.. now we'll see how he does with double coverage

Nobody is a s bad as the Benglas right now. Mike Brown (the fatehr) was a good owner who had good teams, his son is horrible.

No doubt the Bengals are worse off by far

Not so fast. They may draft a high-profile quarterback, but don't discount the possiblity of the Cardinals starting Josh McCown next year. After all, one of the reasons Plummer left was because management told him he'd have to compete with McCown for the starting gig. Look for AZ to sign a veteran QB instead (hmmm... didn't Baltimore call off talks with Jeff Blake?).

'Zona shouldn't waste that early of a draft pick on QB, anyway, especially when they already picked one up last year (albeit, in a later round). Besides, after Boston's departure, they're left with a starting receiving corp of Jason McAddley and ... well, that's it. Everyone else is a free agent. I'd say the Cards could probably use a WR (or two or three), don't you? I'd say that and defense are a priority in the draft.
