Imo once Yao gets back all Rockets will be missing is a guy capable of what mcgrady brings a guy that can create his own shot or make plays from the wing position which would come in handy when brooks is being trapped by 7 footers turning the ball over because he's too small to see the floor and Yao is being fronted and can't get the ball which would take away our 2 most important pieces on offense.

Next year Mcgrady would complete the team, we finally have a good bench, a good pg in brooks, a great C in yao, a defensive stopper in battier and ariza and great pf production in landry and scola, all were missing is a go-to wing player.

Every legit contender has a go to wing player which I think is the most important piece because its easier for them to take over games as shown with kobe with Lakers, Carter with Magic, Nuggets with Melo, Cavs with Lebron, Ginobili with spurs, Pirece with Celtics and Roy with the Blazers.

Next year this team with Yao is a middle of the pack team like the Jazz, Hornets, Suns, and Mavs teams that may advance to 2nd or 3rd round but can never get over the hump to win a championship because their missing that one piece, a go to wing player.

I know everyone thinks t-mac is done because he wasn't superb in 7 minutes but that's expected due to rust and not playing in the nba for so long but he's only only 30 and in his limited minutes he shown he's still capable of getting to the basket, creating his own shot or creating for ohers something we lack in ariza, battier and budinger.

I pulling for t-mac because I know, there just isn't any wing players talented as t-mac available, whether you realize that now or later we will need a player of t-mac caliber to be legit championship contenders which is all that this team is missing when yao is back, it puzzles me that Adelman and morey doesn't seem to realize that hopefully it doesn't take another 3-5 years like it took for Les and gundy to realize that yao and t-mac needed more help than the washed up vets they were bringing in that never showed up in the playoffs.

As of now Morey has already stated that were retooling not rebuilding so is it wise to let a guy of t-mac's caliber just go to another contender next year and make them stronger while we still lack what he would bring to the team, a guy capable closing a game.

Unless were getting back wade or lebron or roy someone of that caliber which is unlikely, Rockets are making a big mistake if their planning on being contenders for a championship. I would hate to see t-mac go to another contender and put them over the top, while will be stuck thinking ariza will develop into that role.

The NBA that belonged to Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett and Tracy McGrady is gone.

Kobe is legendary and stays relevant.

Those guys, they are not elite any longer. McGrady has far less going for him than those two (or other similar fading stars). This team being built around McGrady does not work.

    We know this, we tried.

Are you doubting the mind of Morey?

No we have not really seen him a healthy mcgrady with this team since the streak, even then yao became injured.

My problem with the decision on mcgrady is that sure it sounds well and good for this years team and I completly agree it will screw our chemistry this year but when Yao comes back with a half court game where is our team going??? With a decent mcgrady this team is close to unstoppable. Maybe it's a good idea to send him off and prove his worth at another team then he can resign with us for the minimum.

even tho at this time i believe t-mac is done a a rocket

i still would have liked to seen how this t-mac/yao WITH these role players experiment would have worked out.

during t-mac/yao's run in the playoffs the role players and bench they had was nowhere near as good as the current lineup they have now.

Exactly this team would have no weaknesses, we would be the favorites to knock off the lakers for sure.

    Didn't read your post.

I am for the T-mac for Iggy/Dalembert (or the kmartin/nocioni/kthomas) deal though. I trust we will spend what is necessary to win.

Good thread. I fully support reintegrating McGrady back into the line up with a healthy Yao Ming. Sure, the Rockets are fun to watch this year, but this midget line-up with no superstars isn't going to bring a championship.

Uhhh...Duncan is still doing work. Another 20-10 year for him and don't look now but the Spurs are 20-12. They are still very relevant. TD also has 4 rings, multiple MVPS, and may very well be the best power forward to ever play the game. I know we're talking McGrady and I hate the Spurs, but to your "Kobe is legendary" status while poo pooing Duncan kinda ticked me off.

in my opinion, i think at least the rockets should give a CHANCE for tmac to prove himself, maybe 5-10 games with playing 3x mins/game.

only playing 6-7 mins/game is hard to prove a player's abitily.actually i am so dobut that why the rockets gm are so sure tmac are out of abitily by just watching him playing several minutes.

    1) If McGrady can get his act together
    2) If McGrady returns to pre-injury form
    3) If Yao returns to pre-injury form

Only then can the Yao Mac dream be realized.

A T-Mac-type of player would complete next year's team next but I doubt T-Mac can be that guy.

Damn there's a lot of people in denial here.

At the very least all of these T-Mac threads should be consolidated.

realisticly,t-mac is done.he will never be what he was before.so trade him is a must ,the question is what can we get in return.

a wing scorer who can create his own shot is very very important ,this team is built with so many role players.so we need to find a legit go-to guy ,yao is not the answer.though he is recognized as a offensive beast down low.

still in my opinion ,kevin martin is obviously the answer for us.but his injury-prone history is a big barrier.how to balance that is a challenge for the management.

I think it was a mistake to limit t-mac to 8 minutes. The Rockets had this season to see if T-mac could return to form, but instead too an understandably hard line which resulted in his exit.

Despite his flaws, you can see the benefit T-mac would bring to the table when you watch Ariza. Ariza wears #1 but certainly doesn't measure up to the shirt, and who doesn't yearn for T-mac on offense while watching Trevor take wild shots, make sloppy passes, or dribble the ball off someone's foot?

I think Morey and Adelman know that this bunch is their role-players and they won't go far in the playoffs. My assumption is that Morey has decided that he can acquire a replacement for T-mac that is a better fit than keeping him.

That's fine, but I think he's taking a bigger risk than just keeping him. If you keep T-mac and he returns to form, you have options at the end of the year. You can resign him, S&T, or let him walk.

The route our team is taking eliminates the possibility he could return the form and thus of us resigning him. Unless he gets traded, gets back to form, and somehow resigns with us in the off-season (unlikely). It also eliminates a S&T. Basically we are letting him walk.

I hope it all works out in the end.

    Next Year?
OK. . OK .. . for those that said we should see what the 'complete' team looks like . . .

ONE QUESTION: What kind of Contract should he get. . . . for us to 'see' what it looks like?

    IMO
    1. He will want 12+ Mill
    2. HE will want multiple years
    3. If it does not work . . YOU STUCK WITH HIM AND HIS SALARY

    So . . . please. . . let me know
