This from bskball.com rumors section read carefully...

07/03-FOR THE LAKERS: Having just announced Lindsey Hunter to the media, Mitch Kupchak and his gang have been busy trying to get free agents in to speak with them. There is not much of a sales pitch needed when your the 2 time defending NBA champions, when they call you just ask is the money close. If it is, its basically a "no brainer". For the Lakers they have their fair share of interested guys looking to them, as well as a list of about 15 guys they'd like to entertain about a spot on the roster. One guy almost a lock to join the Champs, is Mitch Richmond, who is expected to ink for somewhere in the $2-3 million range, about half of the Lakers $4.5 million exception. Mitch is sitting on a fat $5 million buyout from the Wizards and has told people close to him this is his best chance ever at a title, and he was not about to pass it up. The Lakers are also in the hunt for a power forward type, with Mark Madsen on the shelf due to injury, and Greg Foster recently traded, the Lakers may go after 2 forwards, and have Christian Laettner and Samaki Walker as probables. Both players may demand more contractually than the Lakers can offer, the hope is they can lad one of them, and pick up a reserve at or around the minimum. One topic that has haunted the Lakers is the pending luxury tax. Mitch Kupchak told reporters last week that he was going to present his owner with a list of possible situations, and hopefully get him to sign off on a minor tax payment, to land the right guys on the team, something many around Mitch's office said they did not have last year. There is still talk of moving Robert Horry closer to his Houston home, and the Lakers may use him as leverage to make a deal to land a big body, I hear LA likes Grant Long as a reserve, and Horry hinted that Memphis would be closer than LA. The Lakers may not meet Horace Grant's expected asking price of $5 million to return to the Lakers, coming off a $10 million paycheck, Horace may be able to land that from one of the 3 teams hot for him (Orlando, Milwaukee and Memphis), but to achieve that, the Lakers would have to take back a minimum of $4.1 million in salary, something they may pass on. Sending both Horry and Grant to Memphis or through Memphis may yield an easier deal, but what on the Memphis roster helps the Lakers, and your not getting anyone they acquired in the draft so don't even start with Gasol or Battier to LA.

ESPN already reported that Horry will not opt out of his contract and remain in LA.

I respect Jeff alot. He's been here for a couple of years and I respect that. But I've been here to.I used to be X-PAC in this BBS but do to personal problems I had to tend to other things for while. The reason I say this is you show a little respect and I'll show you a little respect. But the Goldfarb thing and the Goldylocks thing wasn't funny.Did I call anybody names accept Puff(although he/she deserved it)?Nope. If I offended you(Puff, Jeff, anyone else) then I appologize.

Goldberg ... i agree. Horry opting out, and it being reported, has nothing to do with your post. Even the best posters can make a stupid mistake here or there.

But chill on calling bsk reliable in here, youll be lynched for saying that here.

And chill with the Direct responses to specific posters unless they make direct points to you.

Hey Goldbrick. Maybe you ought to take off another 2 years or keep your smart a$$ comments to yourself and not make them to the top BBS Admin with 6k posts. So far your come back sucks.

To be fair the report never suggests that Horry wants to come back to Houston, but is rather talking about him being traded to Memphis.

Now we all know that Horry opted not to opt out - and it's more than probable that the Rockets have no desire for him anyway - so I guess the report is tlaking about him going to Memphis.

Shouldn't this be in another forum?

I'm not going to take the bait so forget it.I've seen losers in here tar and feather people in the past.I think the problem and the whole reason people do this is because people have too much time on their hands.

PS: I don't care Geek Lobster pleasssssssse do us a favor and keep your thoughts to yourself! And OT again yes how many times do I have to say I respect Jeff. But I don't appreciate unworthy comments.

Well, I'll reply to your post X-PAC, I assume this is the kind of response you're accepting:

I don't see where Horry would want to come here, and why we'd want him now. We could've used Horry (I didn't like the idea though) at a SF, but now that we are overloaded at that position (Griffin, Morris, Shandon, Williams, Langhi), we don't need him anymore. We COULD bring him back at PF, but I think the Rocks like MO better, and we have KT at the backup. Even if MO were to leave, KT would be an acceptable (inconsistent) starter.

I don't know that we would even want Horry back here. He doesn't show up until the postseason, and I don't see it being worth as much as he's paid just for postseason play. We can use that capspace elsewhere -- signing MOT, Moochie, Dream and Shandon. Personally, I'd rather have Shandon over Horry anyways.

Ok, ok. I think we can all get off Goldf...err...Goldberg now. [IMG]

I think that Horry headed "close" to Houston and actually "to Houston" are very different things. He makes no secret of the fact that he wants to be home near his daughter who has a fairly serious medical condition.

The addition of Griffin should end any speculation on Horry, however. Griffin and Horry are similar players with Griffin have a much greater upside.

On bskball.com, I like those guys and we all have a good relationship. However, just like us, they still have to prove their scoops because they aren't part of the everyday media. It isn't like reading it on ESPN. That's not a shot at them anymore than it is a shot at us. It is just reality. It takes years to develop sources that provide a person or information source with quality info. Just like ClutchCity.net, they are young and are still developing.

On a personal note, I appreciate everyone here having my back. I think we all realize this BBS can get a tad harsh at times which is why it occassionally receives some criticism from outsiders and isn't for the weak of heart. It does represent the best group of fans on the planet and that can't be replaced. [IMG]
