So if Condoleezza Rice ran for president do you think she would get anywhere near 90% of the black vote? http://news.newamericamedia.org/news/view_article.html?article_id=301c0d541b41431649784e2b6b6d06ec
This declaration that people vote for Obama because he is black is not complete. The fact is there has never been a black President and that's why Obama being black is important to people. It sets a precedent of success just as similarly as white people not voting for Obama because he's black perpetuates the idea that a black man isn't ready to be President. It's not really that he's black, it's the history of being black in this country.
Yes, that's why black people have vote for a white man in every election at an 85% rate in since they were allowed to vote. Blacks fought and died for the right to vote and it had nothing to do with a guy named Obama. 88% blacks voted for kerry http://www.manhattan-institute.org/html/_dmn-black_americans.htm Gore won 93% of the black vote http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2000/11/15/ED65573.DTL Really don't feel like looking anything else up, but blacks will throw there support heavily to who they think that best represents them. Would probably get only 20-30% of the black vote: Condoleezza Rice Al Sharpton Clarence Thomas
According to Pat, Alan Keyes is "one of them" so he would get 90% of the vote <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/fVeFyV0iLrk&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/fVeFyV0iLrk&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
come on. alan keyes run was a "joke". they all knew he had no chance. in obama, they see hope. but it doesn't mean it ain't "racist". it ain't "racial hatred", but still it's based on race. anything based on race is racist.
Are all? No. Some are and some are not. It's mostly used as a counterpoint when someone labels white's as being racist for not voting for Obama.
But no one has actually labelled whites as being racist for not voting for Obama. The white people who are labelled as racist are the ones that say race was an important factor in their decision to vote for Clinton and the ones that say that they can never vote for a black man.
Yes it is not racial hatred as per PA,WV and KY. However I don't think it is as simple as saying it is based on race. You can't say it is based on race and then admit Alan Keyes would not garner this much support (and i am convinced neither would someone like Condoleeza Rice or even Colin Powel for that matter. Would you consider their candidacies a joke?) I don't disagree that there is a racial element to it but i don't think it's as black and white as that (pun unintended) . I think there is an element of grey that is not considered.
I figured I should spell it out as clearly as possible, since people keep repeating that bizarre claim.
it all depends on the person. some people will vote only because he is black. some vote for him for what he stands for. so if the question is implying all black voters for obama racist? then the answer is no. but if it's only asking are some black voters for obama voting for him because he is black, then the answer is yes.
It's sounds like an excuse to be defiantly racist. "Since I'm considered racist, which is reverse racism btw, I'll vote like a racist and that'll show them!"
So if Condoleezza Rice ran for president do you think she would get anywhere near 90% of the black vote? Didn't read the thread, but the answer is no. The majority of Black voters understand correctly that as a member of the GOP, she is a token and she does not represent their interests.
It's not that Obama got 90% of the black votes, why couldn't guys like Jesse Jackson and others did the same if it's all about race. It has more to do with the person that Obama been able to get all those black votes from. This person is the wife of someone, many believed to be the first "black" president of the United States. Image if all things are equal, but Hillary is in fact "black", and Obama is "white", would Obama still receive the same level of support from the black community. I truely doubt it.
You and I may not like her....and we might think she doesn't represent the interest of many black americans....but...wow...that's a pretty offensive and dismissive thing to say. A token? Nice. Didn't a wise man once ask us to keep things civil?
