I didnt wanna call it the G Hill "Appreciation thread", because dammit there's too many of those floating around. But hell, we all should appreciate and congratulate this man. He's a feelgood story this year, and gives me at least one reason not to hate the Suns. 5 dam surgeries on his left ankle - and did anyone see him climb the ladder over Diop today and then hammer it home!! I hit replay about 5 times on that one (one for each surgery!! ) Cool dude too. Class act. So appreciate.
At his prime, Grant Hill made everything he did look effortless. I love the guy and wish him the best!
How can you say that? None of the Suns players have any rings with PHX. To be "gravy training" you have to be going to a team that has won, not one still trying to get over the hill.
Gravy training implies that the player doesnt contribute much. The situation with grant hill is definitely the opposite of that. If he played for the spurs as the last man off the bench, he'd be gravy training.
i def. wanted him this offseason more than Francis, but we never woulda had a shot over phx anyway. he's playing great.. i'm happy for him
He could have basically called it a day and retired rich, but instead he fought his way back to the league. This tells you something...
Some people just want to be haters. G. Hill could have been one of the best ever. I absolutely loved the guy. Awesome player and great role model for the kids.
Wasn't his tag "The Next Jordan" early on in his career? He was a whole package of dunking dervish when he was with the Pistons. Crazy good. Mad Hops. I always wanted the McGrady - Hill pairing to work out in Orlando. Got my hopes up year after year after year. Too bad it had to end on a bad note. But still, watching GHill's slam over Diop gave me the goosebumps. His head was up over the board on that one. Damn nead at rim-level too. I don't know how he got that mad burst on the bum ankle, but damn! That gave me the goosebumps.
His game has always been so smooth. His dunks, finger rolls, jumpers, it always looked so effortless. His parents did a good job w/ him and I hope he remains as classy as he's shown during his nba career. As much as i don't care for phx i wouldnt be upset if they somehow got to the finals w/ GHill. (not at the rockets expense though).
I wished G.Hill come to the Rox instead of Phoenix. He is one of few NBA likable all-stars left. Rox would definitely find his driving to the basket skills and mid-range jumper extremely useful.
I think sitting all that time during the ankle problems actually saved him so much wear and tear that his body is actually much "younger" than most players his age.
