flash is a major resource hogger but the majority of the web uses it so its hard not to incorporate it into a web browser but looks like apple is trying to get developers to jump on html5

Flash sucks. Does that give Apple the right to be so closed down with the iphone? no.

i can't even count how many Flash crashes I get per day. Maybe 5? Thank google for Chrome.

He can come up with all the FUD he wants. He just doesn't want competition for the appstore. More than 50 percent of the apps in the appstore could be written in flash and bypass the commission Apple gets. If anyone believes this crap from Jobs, I got a bridge to sell you.

Apps are much more wide ranging than that. Do you think Android Marketplace will die when 2.2 is pushed out?

I remember reading an article a while back, I think it was in the iPad launch thread, that discusses flash on touch screen devices. It was written by one of the guys on the flash development team, and he says flash relies too much on "mouse over", ie, when you put your mouse over something in a flash, it will show a menu, or do something else. Mouse over and touch screen is not compatible, you don't have a "mouse" on your touch screen and there's no reason you'd want one. Because of this incompatibility, most of the flash will not work properly on iPhone anyway. I thought that article does have a point.

Who said anything about dieing? I'm talking loss of revenue and control. Apple likes control which is the reason why you can't sync your IPOD with any other music service other than itunes.

Funny this comes from Job, the master of closeness. If you are old enough living through the 80s you know the vision of Mac was monopoly.

That said, I agree w/ what Jobs said.

I don't know much about flash technology. I wonder why Apple couldn't develop its own competing standard. Is it because flash is so tied into the browser already? Can someone give some quick pointers. Thanks.

On second thought, I think Jobs was referring to most content providers are locked in w/ Flash.
