I watched like 3 episodes. And will eventually finish. But it was making depressed and giving me anxiety. For no reason. Side note - the watches they wear look like Uniformwares to me (my fav brand), but I think, some sort of close knockoff.
With all the design choices they make every moment on screen just a little bit stressful and uncomfortable. I mostly already have enough stress and discomfort in my life. I've watched a couple of episodes when in just the right mood, but honestly it hits a little too close to home to be consistently entertaining. It mostly makes me want to move to a cabin in the back woods of Idaho and trap small game and forage for berries and never speak with another human being ever again, which I don't think is a particularly healthy impulse and I generate more than enough of it naturally on my own in the course of a normal day. If I'm being totally honest.
Whenever you're tired of being Albert Fish you could always change your avatar to another well-balanced individual Spoiler Pretty cool puzzle.
Wife and I watched all 8 episodes yesterday. Reminds of a long form Twilight Zone episode, I like the visual and storytelling, looking forward to see how they wrap up the season. Now who wants a waffle party.....
I've tried 3 times to get into it, haven't made it through the 2nd episode. Will pick a day with no distractions and try again.
I'm 5 episodes in and it's very good. The creepy of feel of it is very well done and how they keep the tension of it going. With all of the loud action series this is a good show that keeps your attention quietly with slow pacing.
Just finished watching the finale. Great show and way to keep the tension going up until the very end. I largely figured out the two big twist already so they didn’t surprise me but I still liked how they did them. One thing that might sound odd but I really enjoyed the two main antagonists. There are a lot of. Villains and some well done ones they are good because there are layers to them and even sympathetic things about them. For instance Cersei Lannister from GOT. In many cases where the villain has no redeeming qualities they come off as cartoon like. It’s a sign of a good story and good acting especially in a series to sustain characters like that and with the two bosses I found myself really detesting them but wanting to see more of them. This is a very unsettling show and not something to be seen just to pass the time or to escape from daily problems but well worth watching.
Oh, yeah...definitely gets better after a slow WTF start. Very interesting show. Any plans to continue it?
Just finished it last night; so freaking good. On the edge of my seat the whole time the last episode
Wrapped up this very ****ed up and amazing show (season 1) last night. Ricken is hilarious. If you know academics or anything about academia, he constantly, ignorantly, drops faux pas comments. Example, his name on his book is Dr. Ricken Lazlo Hale, PhD. You aren't supposed to do both. I didn't get some of these subtle jokes but my wife did and would explain it to me. Totally worth the $0 I'm paying for Apple+
Ehhh, I finished watching it. The mystery is there, but you don't get hooked until halfway through the season. The pacing is slower than a snail, and it feels like they could've accomplished this season in 5 episodes. Petey's story is largely inconsequential, and the cliffhanger is cheap. It's as if the season's arc isn't concluded. This feels like it could go the way of Lost, where it's one unexplained mystery after another with no payoff and conclusion. The tone, cinematography, and suspense are there so points for that. P.S. AppleTV's UI is absolute ****.
Just finished season 1 this past weekend. Man, this was an incredible show. Just the concept is such a mindscrew. I guess I'll spoiler the detailed comments: Spoiler Like every time I sat down and really thought about Helly R's situation and how badly she wanted out but wasn't allowed to. And how confident she was that when she would request her resignation and step into that elevator...only to have her very next moment of consciousness be the reveal that she is in fact still trapped. How incredibly hopeless a feeling that would be? And the actress just nailed every moment of it. She was money the whole show through. Turturro was great too. His delivery of "You smug, mother****er." and the subsequent berating of Milichick was so, so good. The actor that played Dylan was also great. He would have been gold alone just for the comic relief "That was poetic as ****, man." But then they gave him some layers later on too when he learned a few details of his outtie life. Patricia Arquette was kind of annoying, but I guess that was sort of the intent. I wouldn't mind if her character didn't return. The main actor was really good too. The moment he tore up his wife's picture was just so heart breaking. And then the twist reveal later on. I hate that we got almost nothing of a reveal of what the hell it is Lumon actually does or produces. I was thinking the entire facility was just one big test case to make sure that the severance technology was full-proof before they start using it in other situations, like the military. But there's too many inexplicably weird things going on for that to fit. The waffle party alone is going to require some serious explanation (though it wouldn't surprise me if we never get it). And how ballsy was it to end season 1 basically right at the climax? I wanted to see the next moments of Helly Eagen's speech SO BADLY. But at least they've already greenlit a 2nd season. So we know we will get that much at least. Also, what the hell is the test floor? Just a big freezer storage place where they put people when they aren't "awake" if they have already been declared dead? And how it is Irving has seen that? Is it because he seemed like an ex-military guy who is trying to infiltrate Lumon? Or is it because Lumon actually took him in there at some point? So many questions. I am so stoked for season 2. Sounds like they started the show with multiple seasons in mind so hopefully they already have some idea of where it is going. Hopefully that also means we don't take too very long to get the next season. It doesn't seem like this would be an expensive show to produce, so I'm hoping there is willingness to keep it rolling to the planned conclusion and not get the rug pulled out from under us like what happened with Raised by Wolves.
