I'm not planning to get one until at least the next generation (if at all)... Are any of you jumping on board already?
Here is some advice before you want to buy one: <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/AEjPqlfQtd4&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/AEjPqlfQtd4&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
I think that radiation pad is going to give men cancer of the balls. Otherwise known as iBalls. Good luck with that. Stan Marsh has some insight in this department...except he had mBalls.
getting one today. i'm off to Japan next week, need it for my long flight. I'll return it back when I come back
i hope this thing succeeds. i'm for anything that will lead to Sony dropping the prices on their E readers. I'd love an e reader but I can't justify paying the current price tag.
Maybe it isn't much different, which is why some feel the iPad (and copycats) could almost nuke the netbook category. I don't think it will serve business users, but casual laptop users who mostly surf the internet, look at video, etc might jump in if the experience on this is better. I'm curious how "cool" the Android and Windows 7 copycats will be.
I truly think most people who get laptops don't need 80% of the computing power. They want to use the internet, email, skype some old friends and family, store and send their photos, and then once a year maybe once per month, run a spreadsheet for household finances. My understanding is that this little thing could do that, all while making the web surfing a lot more enjoyable and simple. If it costs a lot less than an iBook and convinces people it does those things, it will sell I think. But then it just seems like it might be carving into their own market share.
That is the one reason I hear that makes sense. I guess they really are trying to kill the netbook dead. It would seem a bit more reasonable to drop 500 on an iPad for someone who didn't want to spend 1200 on a MB.
I'm not getting one, but I've liked what i've seen leading up to launch. I understand the markets for it, and one of them is the ereader crowd that I am interested in. Just not going to drop that kind of money for it. Developers seem to be going full steam ahead though. I have seen a lot of cool apps designed for it already.
B-Bob said it best. Most people really don't need a computer to do their daily "fun". My son just got one this morning.
Most likely investors who are going to make profit. If apple supply is low, they will make a good profit. Just like when the Ps3 first debuted $$$.
wasnt going to get one, but may have to reconsider now that there is overwhelmingly positive reviews for it.... still waiting for next gen iphone tho
