There's a pretty decent Mac community here. How does the Apple Employee discount look like? Is it a certain percentage off from everything? Specific for each product? I'm looking for the best deal on the new macbook. It's for a Christmas present, so I'm not a big hurry. If I should wait until Black Friday/Cyber Monday, let me know too. Thanks in advance
Generally they get one 25% discount per year on a computer and then around 10 - 15% on other computers. They also get a certain number of 25% discounts per year on iPods. They tend to get 50% on Apple software.
On a general basis, I have never heard that. My brother works for them and I got my iMac through his employee discount and an iPod was not included.
Yeah that's what I'm saying. I'm not sure if they're still doing it but for a while they had a student special for a free ipod touch with computer purchase. My GF just bought her macbook through the special instead of getting it through her friend (who works at Apple). Basically the cost of ipod offset the employee discount and she just sold it.
I think they only do the free iPod with the purchase of a Mac under the Student discount when they are about to come out with a new model. They just need to do it in order to get rid of all the old iPods before the new ones come out. It's not a permanent promotion that runs non stop.
This is really, really close to being exactly right. It's 15% off the other computers, and we have a limit of 3 on those. All of the 25% are limited to 1 product, and we have 3 15%s for friends and family. Accessories, software, and AppleCare are given discounts for reasonable quantities. The free iPod Touch is a promo that was done this past summer and the summer before. It's a back-to-school thing, and it ended just before the new iPods came out. Apple does not give us forewarning of things like this. We get no early or inside information about new products and promos, so we can't tell you if/when something new is coming.
