I know it has been a relatively short season but I have seen Rockets do that I thought we will never achieve under Jeff Van Gundy. 1. We are 12-5 - Enuff said. Couldnt see it coming. 2. Yao is dominating - Who would have expected that 2 years back? Hindsight is 20/20 3. Battier is unbelievable glue guy - If Houston wins the Championship in June then Gay - Battier trade must go down in the folklore 4. Heyes starting? I know he isnt a rookie anymore. 5. Keeping faith in Head - Come the playoff time, I feel we might be needing those long bombers with 5sec left on the clock. 6. Did I just saw V-Span getting his chance? Isnt JVG supposed to be rookie hater 7. We have been competitive in all our games. No blowout matches. Sign of a good team. 8. Offensively we are much more efficient than we were last year. But Yao taking shots instead of Juwan bricking those flat jumper of his makes a world of difference 9. Van Gundy calling clever situational plays? Couldnt have imagine when he got owned by George Karl last year. It still hearts to see Brandon ROy on the Jailblazer's uniform. But Washington game was a nice revenge. The jury is out there but JVG has done a good job upto now. After all we were talking about gelling up before really hitting our strides. I feel we are not quite done as of yet. Come the playoff time, I feel we might move a piece or two to get that third goalscorer in the team. Ultimately our season will be evaluated depending on how far we go in the playoffs but lets give credit for Mr Van Gundy for the record upto now.
I give Van Gundy Props. We are getting better every game. We have not hit our ceiling yet... Go Rockets!!!
Are are crusing .. only of "I'm too lazy to work out" Wells would get it the hint and work his butt off and show management that he can be the third scorer. I sadly believe that is not going to happen. Oh well tis life. But you what sad about this guy is that he will expect teams to "show him the money" this summer.
i respect coach and i was never on the bandwagon of firing jvg. however... i acknowledge all those points and he's bringing wins. however, i wont apologize for me griping about bonzi. where the hell is he???
Also another thing is how JVG has this team so connected. They seem to be so close and always cheering for one another. They are constantly standing on their feet on the bench and clapping for their fellow teammates. When there's a timeout, they come out to the court and give high fives. When one falls, 2 or 3 players come running to the fallen teammates aid. It's just amazing how the team seems like they like each other so much. This is what makes a team, because each one of them does not want to fail in their job. They do not want to dissappoint the teammates next to them. And also they really seem to enjoy playing the game. Anyways GO Rocketssss!!!!! Beat those Wolves
Where do you think he is? He's sitting on his out of shape ass, still sulking about not getting the contract he wanted. My bet is he'll start to get in shape just in time to play the second half of the season and playoffs, just to play for a new contract next summer. I don't know how good for the team that will be long term because it wouldn't be smart to be the one giving him that contract. I know JVG is stubborn, but he's not going to let a talent like Bonzi just waste away for personal reasons. If Bonzi were ready to play he'd be playing.
I notice the same about their closeness and helping each other up and the high fives...the encouragement at the freethrow line after a made or missed shot. It's good to see and this team even takes criticism from the coach and he chews everybody out include Yao when he screws up. They are truly a team.... I'm glad that JHo has kept his composure when he wasn't playing and it's nice to see him taking up the challenge on the boards and defense in his new role behind chucky. It looks like they have a competition to outrebound the other and it's just great to see. Novak was seen giving instructions to V-Span the other night eventhough he wasn't getting any PT. Another sign is on the defensive end of the court with how they rotate and help each other out which takes communication to call the screens and back picks, etc...you have to TALK on D and they do a great job with that!
This JVG love is good for a change. However, I think the team connectedness has more to do with the two superstars on the team having a laid back personality.
I don't feel like I owe him any apologies.. I criticize when he does something wrong, aint nothing wrong with that. He hasn't taken us anywhere close to a ring yet, so no apologies from me..
All this JVG 'LOVE' is coming too soon . There is a lot of water to flow under the bridge and by playooff time it might need a damn to hold it all back. There is still a possibility if Bonzi doesn't play or isn't traded that the axe might fall.
I'll judge him after we play the 2 games against the Lakers next week. But right now I definitely like what I am seeing!
I've criticized JVG but I will give him some props for holding the team together and getting a 12-5 record. Lets keep it up tonight! Now if JVG could only cheer up a little at press conferences.
