well, this is not news, we knew the home teams gets more calls in favor, but I dont understand why they need to even the number of fouls in each team?
Perhaps they don't want people to view them as biased? Based on boxscore alone, I believe most people will think a foul calls 27 - 25 will reflect the referees are fairer compare to the one 21 - 13.
Let's suppose the Rocket's loss to the Suns was fixed. The phantom calls, as said above, would easily make someone quickly looking at the box score think that the game was decently fair: 21 (Suns) to 27 (Rockets) personal fouls. However, the number of freethrows shot from each team was a staggering 32 (Suns) to 13 (Rockets), easily accounting for the difference of score in the game. Clearly fouls called on shots have a heavier weight to the outcome of a game compared to non-shooting fouls.
i absolutely swear that 10-15 years ago, once teams were up 20 the game was practically over. even in the playoffs, the team in the lead would pull out the starters and clear out the bench when they were up big. nowadays, a team up 22 with 6min to go in the fourth will leave all their starters in until maybe the last 2min. i wonder what changed.
well duh. This is why watching basketball is so frustrating. The reffing is such a hideous joke that it alsmost makes the game pointless.
