I was at my Dad's house last night and he asked me to help him out with his computer. Before I get all the snide "Drop AOL" coments, thanks in advance. Every time he opens an application, whether it be MS Word, a game, or a picture editor, AOL opens with it. Now it is also opening MSN messenger s well. Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? Is there remedy for this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You answered your own question. Update antivirus and scan the whole drive. Download Adaware and see if there is any kind of spyware on the machine.
Not sure if this is what you're dealing with...came from AOL's "oh-so-helpful" support q/a's....all six of them. AOL allows you to set your preferences regarding AOL launching automatically. You can change these preferences at any time. To set your Auto Start preferences: 1. On the Windows® taskbar, right-click the AOL icon and select Auto Start Options from the menu that appears. 2. On the Auto Start AOL window, select your preference for starting AOL® when an Internet connection is established. 3. Click OK.
