I just had a coworker in New Hampshire send me a link - something about Capturing Osama. Anyway, I clicked the link, page would not open. I tried again, and a game began to download. I exited the game, and replied back to him that I was disappointed, because I thought it was going to be an article about the actual capture. He asks me what the hell I am talking about, tells me he didn't send me a link. I magically get signed off AOL IM, and the three chat windows I had opened magically closed. When I auto-sign back on, I have 4 people send me IM's saying they could not open the link. I went to Trend, Symantec, MS, and found no new virus updates. I even did searches for Osama, etc. Nothing.... I also did a scan, and it came back clean. WHAT IS GOING ON?
I also went to aol 9.0 for the first time, and that **** is crazy. I still use 7.0. I wanted to try out 9.0 out.
Does the new version of AIM not support Windows ME? I tried upgrading and it brought my AIM down. It told me to uninstall then reinstall, which I did, and the computer wouldn't finish the install. I ended up just getting a really old version of AIM back on my computer. Anyone have any suggestions?
this crap JUST happened to me apparently you click on the link and it installs some .exe file. next thing you know, your AIM shuts down and restarts again. and when you sign on, it goes through your buddy list, randomly sending that exact same link to other people, where the same thing happens to them. this trojan/worm/whatever must be fairly new, since i can't find ANYTHING about it on the web. if anyone knows how to get rid of it, please lemme know.
I just got the same IM about 15 seconds after I read this post. Weird. Boy am I glad I read this thread on time or else I would've clicked the link.
Well the entire gas trading industry is getting popped by this. El Paso Energy, Sempra, Cargill, and Burlington employees have all sent me the link. I'm really glad I logged on here before I got those.
I hacked the aim message and it leads me back to a government source. something tells me ashcroft has something to do with it.
Whenever someones sends me a link, I copy and paste it because of that fact. Then if something says to install something, I have the ability to click no. I had that link sent to me and I stopped it.
glad i saw this.. just got the same thing sent to me but I didn't click.. friend that sent it to me though .... what's the best way to get it off his computer?
Hi pals! Nyquil82 here! I am fine, don't have any worries! I was wrong before, Ashcroft is a good guy, and any program that the government puts on your computer is there to keep terrorists out! I have proof! http://www.whitehouse.org I may be gone for a while, but don't worry, no need to report missing persons to liberal media outlets!
