The 3 pitchers that the Padres are throwing against us just pitched 18.2 innings giving up 0 R and only 8 H against a pretty good Phillies team. This is no gimme series

Pretty good Phillies team? That's one of the hottest offenses in the last 2 months.

So yeah I could see the Padres sweeping us, ala the Yankees.

Our 3 worst starters (France appears to have hit a wall).

If you gave me 2 out of 3 I would take it right now.

Snell and Lugo both pitched good in their last outings but it was against SF. As for Hill, he lasted 1.1 innings against PHI, giving up 6 earned runs and 2 HR.

I think they are skipping Hill due to the off day and going to Avila who pitched 6.2 IP of 2 hit shutout of PHI. You are correct on the Giants, though .. didnt realize Philly was only a 2 game series. SF considerably less impressive to shut out.

Winning this series at home would be a great result heading into games against Oak and KC

So if we go 6-3 and have a 2-3 game lead in the division afterwards, you would consider that a failure?

Both his statement and yours can be true at the same time. 7-2 is a good and realistic number imo. (Assuming this is the one where we play the pads, Royals and A’s in a row? Then Baltimore, Royals, M’s and DBacks if I remember correctly?

7-2? Anything other than 9-0 means someone should get fired right away, and it's most likely Dusty's fault...that senile manager.

I am thinking that 10 and -1 is the real bar for success.

They’ve won 10 of their last 14. Over those 10 wins they’re averaging 11 runs per game. Not shabby.

From here to the end of season, scoring less than 10 runs a game means Dusty has to go!!!

Actually, anything less than their best is a felony. Love it or leave it.
