Has anything been said about the Knicks? Have they made any proposals? I read a few posts before and see ya guys hate us But anyways just want to know since you can't tell the difference between Reality and fiction in the NY Papers... Also if there have been, are they even resonable? Or one of Layden's Idiotic Proposals? BTW, has China said anything to the Rox? That's the only reason I'd think you guys would trade your pick
We do not hate you atleast I don't earlier I posted about Steve stating if Ming is a Rocket Steve is bolting and New York wants Steve.
Nah, man, we don't hate the Knicks. I like them, actually. The best inside info we have is buried in these... http://bbs.clutchcity.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33855 http://bbs.clutchcity.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33926 (highlights = stuff written by Clutch / Oeilpere / Doc Rocket / Jeff / heypartner) welcome and good luck CBFC P.S. Chucky Brown rules and the Knicks jerked him, that's why they are so screwed these days.
Half the teams in the league want Steve.....and because of the salary cap there would be no way NY could get Steve
Not really. Seeing as New York though seems to be pretty adamant about the #1 its just a matter of time that the rumors and talk begin to blow up.
I really love Steve and don't want him to go, but if (and this is a big IF) he wants to go because we draft a 22 year old 7-5 center with a lot of talent then good riddance. If he doesn't want Jay Williams and he doesn't want Ming then who would we draft #1? Juan Dixon? We would love to work a deal for veteran guys to make a run at it next year, but it isn't easy to do. If he can't trust CD and Rudy T, who have both been involved in 2 championship teams and 2 other teams that made the finals (one going right through LA and Magic), then we aren't going anywhere with Steve anyways. Not with Juan Dixon as our center.
New York doesn't really have much we want and that's the big problem. The Rockets aren't really interested in Sprewell, Houston or Camby, so there can't be much to discuss.
Got it from nbadraft.net, very interesting info. "According to Chinese Press: 1. Yao Ming is a city slicker. He was born and raised in the largest city in China, Shanghai. He believes in "Dress for Success." He always dress well. It is reported that the suit he wore when he arrived in Chicago was custom-made by Ermenegildo Zegna ($5,000 a piece). Hey, Rockets fans, have you ever heard about this name? The last time I was in Houston, I noticed that the most upper class store was Macy. Sounds to me that Yao Ming really needs to live in NY to shop on the fifth ave or in Chicago to shop on the michigan ave. 2. Yao Ming does not like to watch soccer. He could not understand why his teammates in the National Team love soccer game. "Too boring to me and I do not understand it." Soccer is the most popular sports in China like the rest of the world (excluding US) 3. Agassi showed Yao how to play tennis last year (no jokes) during one of the charity sports games held in Shanghai. Guess who won the tennis games? Yao. 4. Yao does not have a girlfriend at the moment. His Sharks teammates said Yao likes girls with short hair (He has short crew cut, right) and likes girls who are romantic. 5. Yao eats a lot. I guess that he has to so that he can bulk up his body. His Mom recalled when he was a teen, "he ate 0.5 kg (~1 lb) of eels and 0.5 kg of roasted pork for lunch alone." Hey, for those of you do not know what eel is, check out your dictionary. 6. Yao Ming is a very organized man. His domitory is always well organized compared to his teammates. 7. Yao Ming is puzzled by all the hypes around him. When asked by the reporters that how he feels that he might be the No. 1 pick during the 2002 draft, he said "Is that really important? Or is it more important to win more games?" "They (the NBA experts) have been projecting me to be the #1 pick since 2000 Olympics. It is not excitng anymore." 8. Yao Ming is a very patriotic man. When David Falks (Shaq's agent) approached him last year and suggested to him to defect from China to play for NBA, he got very angry. "F*ck. What was he thinking about? Was I only enticed to the money? How ignorant was this guy." He even issued a public statement through the NBA office that he was not and would not use Falks as his agent. 9. Yao Ming is a team-oriented man. We know that he has superior passing skills. As a center, he passes a lot of balls to PG/PF and make those look good. An assistant GM from Seattle Sonic after watching Yao's games in China earlier this year made the following comments: When Yao joins NBA, he's better be more selfish than is he now because everything about NBA is about individual statistics. "
Nothing yet, just alot of fiction like you see in NY. If anything is going to come out it will not be now for sure, it will at least take a couple of weeks. Till then, most rumors are BS or major smoke screens. Right now the news is to sway the public positively or flat out negatively,(news people are try to make name for themselves by guessing) they are trying to get the community or maybe some players to change opinions one way or the other. With no real data in. The real stuff it still far away from being public.
I love people who think they know everything about a city just because they once had a two hour layover there.
>It is reported that the suit he wore when he arrived in Chicago was custom-made by Ermenegildo Zegna Wow! Custom Made??? Here's a flashlight: ALL SUITS THAT FIT 7'5" PEOPLE MUST BE CUSTOM MADE!!! THEY ARE NO READY_TO_WEAR SUITS FOR 7'5" PEOPLE! UNDERSTAND?
You must haven't heard of Lord and Taylors at the galleria. With all these pro athletes here, I'm most sure if Ming wants to spend good money on clothes, there are plenty of places. After he sees half his salary going back to the chinesse gov't, he may start buying suits at suit mart.
Can we say Heartbreakers on the Gulf Freeway in Dickenson? One trip there and Ming is as good as ours!!!
And? NBA players have money. The Rockets don't shred their contracts if they exit the city limits just to pick up a suit. And Leebigez is right Houston's "most upper class store" isn't Macy's or Walmart Supercenter. This shouldn't be an issue.
Houston may not be the most beautiful city, but it's not a hick town. I like to go to the Galleria to ice-skate. That's about all I can afford there. Kayman, I'm sure he was emphasizing the fact that the suit was custom-made by some (evidently) well-known designer, not just that it was custom-made. Interesting what the article highlighted about Yao. Half-glorification, emphasizing his confidence; half-patriotic, non-Western capitalist mindset. I know I'm reading too much into it. Interesting anyway.
I was thinking more along the lines of Treasures or Michael's. (My friend's next door neighbor owns Heartbreaker's). Anyways, I'm sure as hell there's a better place in Houston to buy a suit than Macy's at the Galleria. Hell, where did all the old Enron goons shop?
Oh yeah, I don't hate the Knicks, but I think I and a lot of people here hate the attention New York gets for being New York. They can be a lottery team, but they'll still get games on national TV. I like to mouth off about conspiracies every now and then, but I don't really buy into them. There's no question that New York, Los Angeles, and whatever team Michael Jordan is with get A LOT of coverage, and that's irksome.
Here's an ideal situation for Yao: 1. Take him to Lincoln Southwest and let him buy a brand new 2003 Navigator (black). It's the only thing he can fit in. 2. Take him to Bellaire and Beltway 8 for some good Chinese eatin at the Hong Kong market. 3. Take him to the Galleria. Buy an Abercrombie hat, an A&F polo shirt, and some cutoff baggy cargo shorts. Send him over to Foot Locker for some Adidas superstars, and he'll be an instant pimp/frat boy. 4. Buy him a nice hi-rise condo in the Galleria area- one of the new ones, close to where Ken Lay used to live.
Shiyat, that's easy. Resign Kevin "The Fashion Guru" Willis as a consultant or 12th man and let him take Yao shopping and provide a big body to D up against in practice.
