The Museum of Natural Science has this corpse flower that been on the verge of blooming for the last week and a half, keeping everybody on the edge of their seats watching the inperceptable movements of a plant. Who here has been waiting impatiently for it to bloom? My wife is checking the webcam several times a day and is dying to see it once it blooms.

Sounds like a really nasty fungal disease from a horror movie.

This girl that's been chasing me that I'm not interested in has invited me to go see it with her. I'm not going.

The best thing about the plant is that its scientific name translates as "giant misshapen penis".

You should go and then when you get there ask her what she's been eating because her farts smell like road kill. Then make a big scene about how she should really get that checked out.

I used to work at HMNS, and I'm really happy to see all the positive press it's been getting over this. HMNS has a great staff who works tirelessly to make sure the museum is top-notch with the exhibits it receives, from the Faberge Eggs to the current Faberge collection and archeopterix exhibits to Lucy, the Chinese ceramic warriors, and a jillion other things. The figure that gets me the most is that it's the 4th most visited museum in the country (I don't know if this covers all museums or just science museums or what).

They're currently undergoing plans for a full renovation of the main hall all the way out to San Jacinto St and adding like 6-7 more dinos. They've also got more renovations and expansions going on as well beyond (or maybe it's above) the Weiss Energy Hall.

HMNS is a great place to visit and I find a lot of my friends are unaware of this. Go support it. Take your family. Chicks dig it. Kids love it. It's great for the city.

I'll probably go see it when it blooms. I wouldn't say I have a "fever," but I am interested enough in getting to see it after blooming that I check the webcam occasionally.

Why, yes indeed I have Corpse Flower Fever. It is reminiscent to the time I had Yellow Fever when I was back in 'Nam fighting the Charlies.

Went to the museum last week with my nephew and was wondering what all the hubbub was about. I didn't realize it was such a big deal...it just looked like a big plant to me.

Sucks that you have to pay for the butterfly exhibit every time you want to see it, though. Saw on a Chronicle article someone has gone over twenty times so far...wtf....

I'd rather see a planetarium show than look at some stank ass flower.
