I though he kinda sucked. In the long pass, he threw out of bounds twice and then came in second place with a throw of 64 yards. I will say his throw out of bounds was probably 70 yards. He was off target in the receivers competition...throwing a little late and costing the reveive valueable time. But, he was the most popular player, for obvious reasons, and got the most cheers from the crowd in Miami.
wow, some people will find any reason to hate on a guy. the long throw is always tough to be accurate on, that's why most teams don't have the 60 yard post pattern..... it competitions like this and skills testing that is similar by scouts that lead to them picking someone like ryan leaf, akili smith, or tim couch in the top 5. look at what the man does DURING the games.
I love VY....just thought he sucked in THAT competition. The guys is a winner...I kinda expected him to throw an 80 yarder down the middle to win the competition. That would have been his typical fashion.
You do realize Vince was the overall winner of the challenge, correct? If you think that sucks, well, there's not much else that can be said.
Because it doesn't have anything to do with his game ability. NFL scouts want to know how he reacts when the defense brings the heat, not how far he can throw to a no with non existent receiver without a pass rush.
And if he would have kicked a** in the competition, all y'all would be using it as validation for how great y'all think he is. Besides, Bobblehead didn't say Young is crap or he is not going to make a good pro, etc. All he said was he didn't do well in this particular venue. I know people like one player or the other and have passion about the subject, but you don't have to be so damn sensitive about every little thing said.
VY is a work in progress, even more so than Reggie Bush. While it's true that Bush would have more of an immediate impact on the Texans' success in the short-term, the only reason I want VY more is that he's a Houstonian and I love our hometown kids. That being said, however, I won't be completely depressed if the Texans select Bush instead, I think you can't go wrong with either one, and in the short-term Bush will help us out more. Either way, I am very excited about next season...
I'm not crying for the Texans to take VY, just saying that this competition doesn't mean anything when it comes to the draft.
Neither do the NFL combines, but a player's stock has been known to drop or improve dramatically by performing poorly in "drills" prior to the draft. Don't tell me things like this have no effect on how a player is perceived for the draft. I didn't see the challenge or whatever it is so I have no idea how he really did ... all I said is VY shouldn't be doing anything because all he can do is really lower his stock ... I don't think there is much he can do to raise his stock.
If you think the drills at this Capital One Challenge in anyway equate to the combine, you're crazy. I'll forgive you since you didn't watch. The combine judges a player's strength, speed and agility. The one drill that demonstrated agility at this challenge, VY dominated.
No I didn't...I turned it off before the kicking competition. I did not know they had an overall winner. Why would they? How do you compare a kicker to a QB anyway? I was speaking about the events that I saw him in...he wasn't that impressive. But neither are most superstars in all-star challenges. As far as NFL scouts...I don't believe they pay attention to that stuff anyway. That is what the combine and private workouts are for.
Dude, that's akin to saying Jeff Gordon sucks at racing because he can't beat single player mode in Mario Kart.
