I've been off the Internet for a few days and still don't know the full Yao Ming story. How much of Yao's story was mistranslated, if any of it? I've read everything from he's done from the season, to the "R" word (retirement) to only a few months. I just don't know. There are rumors all over ESPN that Ron-Ron is headed for Cavs. Ugh, please, Ron, no. But lost in all of this hoopla is our drama queen Tracy McGrady. No one here can discredit his once incredible talent. I mean good gracrious, he has led the league in scoring. TWICE. Sure a McGrady led team has never, ever been past the the first round of the playoffs. But what is failed to be mentioned is McGrady led teams, with inferiour (sp?) talent *cough* Ryan Bowen still MAKE the playoffs. Yes, he is getting older and yes he had a serious injury to his knee although on a "non weight bearing portion" according to DD. If I'm T-Mac, I'm about to show the world that everyone is wrong about me. I AM as talented as Kobe Bryant. I have a ton of heart and am ready to carry a team. I know I'm probably in the minority, but screw tanking the season. With Daryl Morey and his staff and an ultra-motivated McGrady, let's get it on.
No. When he comes back next season, I imagine he will play well for the last couple of months of the season. But I'm sure he will get injured the following season.
i still believe that if he comes back healthy, he can be good for 20-25 points a night. his knee and shoulder have been bothering him and holding him back for quite some time now. now, hes had his surgeries, and we just gotta hope he can fully recover from his knee surgery. if he comes back healthy, i dont expect any flashy dunks from him anymore though.
This is a bad time to ask this, because we really don't know when tmac is coming back or not come back at all. I do agree with the tmac coming back with wanting to prove people wrong.
not to mention its a contract year for him. hes gonna want to play well to get a nice contract with a team next year.
I believe that Tracy will come back to fight for a new contract late in the year, only to re-injure himself (knee, back, shoulder, wandering eye, take your pick). If not, he'll be gone by this time next year at the latest.
So, you think T-mac is motivated after having surgery (again), and people doubting him (again), and now he has something to prove(again)....oh, but this time he REALLY means it...good god. Tmac is older, richer, fatter, and has another excuse to use when one of his teams fail (again). He and Yao were (are) a horrible combination for a team to depend on. People need to quit hoping for something magical to happen with their health. This is who they are, it sucks, but it is what it is...deal with it and move on...
t-mac should be ok. he won't be a scoring champion anymore but there's not too much that speaks against him coming back and being a decent player again.
I still think he's got something in the tank. I definitely don't want to let him go for peanuts. If we move him, I think we should aim high. If we can't get what we want, hang on to him and see if he can prove the naysayers wrong.
Although the subject matter is polarizing and has been beaten to death, it provides a rare opportunity. Someone needs to start the "Great '09 Grady Challenge" thread. You would not be allowed to post unless you committed a tip jar donation based upon your prediction. For example, I personnally don't think Grady will play one minute in a Rockets uniform in the 2009-10 regular season. If I'm right, I get to gloat. If I'm wrong, I commit to a post season tip jar amount. On a subject that's been beaten to death...it's now time to put up or shut up.
