my laptop has a 110 gig hard drive and ive used like 100 n its just been going slow as balls, so might as well buy a external one and clear off my laptop from scratch.

Fry's. I don't think you'll get a nice external one, since they're more expensive than internal, but give it a whirl. Their sales ad comes out on Fryday ;) .

    Newegg.com

They have more selection than any retail store, because they don't get rid of the older models just because newer ones come out.

I actually recently bought a 500 GB Lacie external HD for $99 (normally $130). They usually have a lot of different models of anything marked down.

never heard of that brand name of that drive...so..

let me see what i can find on lower capacities.

the other day office depot had 250gb portable seagates for 40 bucks.

check the walmart clearance section, i think they have a 250gb western digital for 50.

I wouldn't buy the cheapest hard drive you can find. There are some brands out there that are a lot less unreliable then others.

The rule of thumb of buying hard drives for me is the length of the manufacturer warranty. I generally don't buy HD's that have less then 3 years warranty. This excludes a lot of HD's, such as a lot Western Digital models , but is worth the extra cost in my experience.

I would like to hereby display my frustration with WESTERN DIGITAL:
Please don't buy a WD drive if you plan to remain happy.

Have you considered that maybe the hard drive is NOT your problem, that it might be how you are using your processor and how much memory you're using with your applications? Just a hunch, sir.

Just read your first post again, if it isnt viruses or spyware, then defragging your HD could fix the problem.

If your using windows xp then its in the accessories/system tools start menu.
