Trade Rumors

I have seen a few threads about some outlandish rumors connected with the Rockets.
Does anyone have any real rumors involving the Rockets that have some real substance. For instance, David Aldridge rumors generally have some kind of substance.
Personally, I could see the Rockets making a deal and I could see Griffin or Mobley or both involved.

They need a focus more than a roster change. Where might that come from?????????????

i disagree with the idea of firing rudy. Rudy is a good coach, who helped the rockets won back-to-back championships. Give him 2 more seasons to work with yao. if he doesn't move the team forward to championship contender by that time, i then will suggest he be let go.

Does anyone know if there's a God? I know there have been a lot of rumors, but I was wondering if anyone had any real info.

I get suckered by this kind of thread about once a week. Usually titled something like "Trade Rumors" and usually asking if anyone has any info on same. What's weird is, the twenty five million threads asking, you know, "Yeah, I know there are rumors but what's REALLY going on," have yielded ZERO useful, serious responses. I wonder why that might be.

At any rate, here's a really, really good tip:

If there are any trade rumors, real or imagined, regarding the Rockets, if anyone anywhere in this world or another has any opinion, insight or anecdote regarding the Rockets, if it's on the radio, TV, another site, overheard at a mall or a grocery store or a nightclub or an Oriental massage parlor, you will find it here on this very site no less than five minutes after it goes down.

By the way, I know there's been a lot of speculation, but does anyone know if the Rockets will make the playoffs this year? I mean, really. I want to hear from the insiders here.

Some of the trade rumors makes it seems like the Rockets are in some kind of panic with firing Rudy T. Rudy has more knowledge then any of us about the Rockets with their first year with Yao so hes our best choice. The trade rumors that i've seen so far makes no sense but only to bring a better name but not a better chemistry. For example, the Grant and Ellis trade?? thats a weak trade, but some of the posters would do it in a heartbeat.... We still have half a season to go and the only trade that I would be interested in is the Brand deal only if he doesn't accept for the Max contract (but he most likely will).

Trade Rumors?

You ?can take this to the bank? Department:

1. Rudy will not get fired.
2. 99.99999999999 % of the time, the Rockets will not trade with a Western opponent at half season (thus, eliminating those Clipper, Utah, Phoenix threads I see). Unless the team is a definitive 10 or more seeding rrrreeeeaaaallll early in the second half (Memphis,GS,etc...).
3. The Rockets cannot afford Jason Kidd. Maybe never. Fa-git-a-bout-ett.
4. Posey will not/cannot get traded. One reason is that he has reincarnated Drexlers spontaneity and drive for RT, and two, it is against the CBA for a while.
5. No wholesale ?clean house? trades (3 for 4 players). See percentages in #2.

You ?can bet they recently took a long hard look at these offers? Department:

1. Rasta man. Yep. There has been some solid talk.
2. Stromile. Not too expensive, we hear.
3. Gasol. Pipedream unless Mobley and Griffin are both in the deal.
But RT will not puill the trigger.

Other?s ?affections are infectious? Department

1. Hawk?s J Terry a swimmer in LA? Mmmmmmm,close.
2. Sonic?s GP having an Eastern Burger? Mmmmmmmm, closer.

Thanks OP, you really just cleared alot of the so called rumors from this board. Surprised that the Rockets showed interest in Grant considering his salary. I'd pass on Swift, he's too much like Griffin in my opinion. I'd love to have Gasol, but I don't know if he's worth both Cat and Griff. One more thing, are you implying the Rockets may be trying to swing a deal for GP, or just acting as a third team?

I'd give up Griff, Cat, AND Compaq Center for Gasol.

ABSOLUTELY!!!! If that's all it would take why haven't we already done this. I love Griffin and his potential but Gasol has just as much and is further along in his development. Cat is a different story. I just don't believe he is ever going to understand/accept his role with this team.

Grant is an awesome idea. Unless anyone knows of another big that will iron out the front court... I think you have to do this. If we only make this trade to avoid the sight of Cato off of paxil... you have to do this trade. "Not on my watch babbbay".

Griffin is young and Mo is damaged. Kenny is ripping it up out on the east coast. Let's do this.

Shut my ass up. After days and weeks of dreamcasting and at least seemingly fake trade prediction threads, AustinRocket shows up and asks if anyone knows anything. As I said above, I thought it was a silly question. Then popeye shows up outta nowhere with his latest. And if he's right he maybe makes a hero outta that newbie in the Heat trade thread. Nice, Austin.

p.s. I'm still skeptical bout Grant. First, didn't we just "solve" our four logjam? Second, though Grant's a good backup 5, Cato's a better one. Third, somebody better give him a damn thorough physical. Call me a dreamcaster, okay. But to make this deal work for me you give me a real live, pass first backup point in the deal and take Moochie off our hands too. I'm more eager to let him go than Cato, Griff or Taylor. Cato's playing to potential and I'm happy with it. Griff and Taylor will both be better than they are now. Mooch won't.

The Heat are likely looking to get younger and also dump long term expensive contracts.

Grant would take something like:

Griff (younger) + Rice (shorter term contract) + ?

Taylor doesn't really help the Heat shed a longterm contract, so unlikely to see him go in a Grant swap..........unless something extra is added to offset (probably quite a bit extra).

Stacking a number of shorter term and cheaper contacts doesn't add up fast enough. TMo + Collier + Griff still leaves them millions short.

There was an article quoted, probably in the NBA Forum, about S Smith (Spurs) having some trade value because of his expiring contract. In early 2004, Rice would have that same type of value.
