I decided to start using some of the software that came with my laptop, and I am sorta confused as to how I set Outlook 2002 for my Yahoo account. My biggest problem is what do I put in when it asks for the POP3 server? Is it like Yahoo.com or something? So far, I haven't been able to figure it out. I also got this calander http://www.calendar-updates.com/Data_Files/NBA/hou.pst to work on it, I just want to have a good reason to use it with my email.
Last I recall, you need to pay to have POP3 access to a Yahoo account now. I know that once Yahoo switched to the "pay for POP3 access" there were workarounds that people used to continue getting POP3 access.
I think if you set up an e-mail account with http://www.lycos.co.uk, their e-mail service allows to aggregate e-mails from Yahoo, Hotmail, etc. And they have free POP3, so you can just collect all your mails in that lycos.co.uk account and then download them through their POP3 server. It takes a bit of hassle to set it up, but it should work.
Is your ISP a Yahoo! variety? Otherwise, you're probably not going to be able to get it to work. Also, are you using Express 6 or Outlook 2002?
OUTLOOK sucks. its a big hassle, just go through the extra steps and sign into yahoo, or better yet leave it signed on if its your computer. then make it your homepage, no worries.
Unless you are paying for a Yahoo mail account, you cannot check your mail through a mail client like Outlook Express. A POP3 server is the server that receives your mail from outside servers and where you download it from. If you had an email service other than Yahoo/Hotmail/AOL like RoadRunner, Earthlink, EV1.net, etc, you would use a mail client like Outlook to check the mail. Usually, pop3 servers have names like mail.yourispname.com. They also ask for an SMTP server. That is the server you use to SEND email. It would be specific to your ISP. In the case of RoadRunner, for example, they use smtp-server.houston.rr.com , but it will vary depending on the service.
