I already have an unopened copy of windows vista home premium, and i'm also considering installing Fedora linux on my next laptop. Don't want to pay for an extra license of Vista that I won't be using. Anyone know if it's possible to buy a laptop without a windows license? I know Dell used to do it, but I just talked to their tech support and they said they don't offer that option any more.
They started doing that about 5 years ago, but the Dell customer service rep I talked to said they don't offer Linux anymore. It's weird since pretty much everything is customizable when you place an order, but you're stuck buying a windows license. You can't remove that option.
yeah. im thinking about a new computer but i really dont want to go through one of the major distributors b/c of all the excess programs they put on it. But im hesitant to build my own, or have someone else do it for me.
