I'm not looking to sue anyone, I just need a lawyer, preferably a not terribly expensive one, to write a threatening letter to a club I went to recently. The bouncer removed me while I was shaking hands with someone, and grabbed me by the neck and pulled me out without warning, in front of a crowded bar and a lot of my friends. So if anyone has any recommendations, thanks in advance.
Yes they do. Last time I was in there, I....er, uh...how 'bout those Texans! Should be a great season!
Ok it was at a crowded bar in Rice Village... I was there with some friends and we were just giving each other big high fives, we were drunk but not being belligerent or causing a scene, eyewitnesses agreed. Anyways the guy comes up to me while my back is turned, and just drags me out while holding my neck with his forearm. I didn't retaliate or anything but it was definitely uncalled for, because he didn't even make his presence felt or let us know that we were doing anything disruptive. If I had a knife on me, I could have easily pulled it on him not knowing he was a bouncer, which to me wasnt clear since I felt I had no reason to be bounced at that point, plus I couldn't see who was attacking me. Stack24 maybe you know if stuff like this is normal for bouncers to do, but I wasn't fighting or anything and there was nothing to break up, so his course of action didn't seem at all justified and was borderline dangerous. What I want to do is just have a lawyer send them a letter demanding an apology and some sort of reconciliation (not necessarily monetary or anything). I'm not angry about the incident, I just want to have a good time at their expense if possible, and I need a lawyer's credibility to make it happen. So if anyone can help me out here please let me know, I will pay whatever fee is necessary for his/her time.
Okay first off where in Rice Village was it? Which bar that is. Based on what your telling me that is not how a bouncer is supposed to act unless the situation calls for someone to be dragged out (ie. a fight or something) Did the bouncer ever come up to you and say anything regarding your actions or anything you might have done or any of your friends for that matter? Was there anything before that would have warrented the actions? Did someone else say something to the bouncer regarding you, like if you were rowdy to other patrons and stuff. Regardless of all those questions though, he definently handled it the wrong way. The bar can get in a lot of trouble for someone treating a customer like that or anybody for that matter without just cause. The bouncer should have asked you to leave for whatever reason and if you resisted then he can use some kind of force to remove you. He can't just come up to from the back and drag you out of a place unless you were involved in a fight or confrontation that he might have believed to be threating to the people in the club or your surrounding. Definently sending a letter from a lawyer and contacting the managment directly about the incident will open their eyes if you are saying you will sue them for blah blah and even if you are not going to sue them they should do something to the bouncer, suspend him or fire him because it's a liablity to the bar. The reason i ask which bar is becuase i am familiar with most of the owners and managers there and i can find out what happened maybe and see what their take on it is. Let me know.
