In the interest of reading things that I otherwise wouldn't, I'd like to propose a ccnet book club. It wouldn't be anything onerous: like, one book every month or something. So that you know this isn't just an insidious ploy to trick people into reading things coming from my perspective, someone else is welcome to choose the first book, if there are enough people who like the idea. Hopefully, this would be enjoyable as well as informative for anybody interested in reading the suggested books. After everyone's read it, we could start a thread to discuss it. Seems like too often, someone mentions a book in a thread that nobody else has read, so the point is kind of lost... Any one want to try it?
im in...ive been searching for a good book to read for the past month...i dont have a book in mind but im down to read anything except books about utah, books with stories taking place in utah, books written be people from utah, books written by authors with the first name john or karla, and books that have the word **zz in them.
Sounds cool. If I might make a suggestion. Something you just paid $25 for to read in hardback might not be the best option for everyone, so maybe suggest either something softcover or easily found in a library?
I was wondering the same thing. I think I would be interested, but which type of books are we talking about, and how would we decide which one each month? x34
Do we get to pour out all our feelings over virtual coffee and get in touch with our feminine side, too? In any case, I'm down.
Fiction and non-fiction. I generally enjoy fiction more, but am up for particularly interesting non-fiction reads (just nothing too technical... beware of Mango). So, who wants to pick the first month's book? Oh, and Grizzled's idea is good... let's stick to stuff that's easy to get and/or cheap.
I'd like to, but I've got all the reading I can handle at the moment. I'll be sure to look in though. (And I think you're referring to HayStreet's idea, not mine. )
