I need a new job, anywhere...I just graduated with my BBA in CIS last year..the job market sucks so bad right now! I've been on computers on whole life, but dont have the "experience" to land any kind of IT job right now! No one wants to train anyone, I am so frustrated! I have a decent job now, but it isnt something I want to do forever..

anyone know of anyone hiring? prospects? any hiring managers in the house? :D

A really good way to get the experience is through a agency. Take a few temp/contract jobs and put those on your resume. Not exactly a fast/quick solutation to your problem but it does work. Plus its a great way to network. The job market being so bad right now I'm doing the same thing, albeit I'm not in the same field as you I think you might want to give it a try. When they offer you an assignment you can always say no.

Holy crap, you sound very much like me when I graduated reallyBaked. I got a BBA in MIS and for three months I had no job. I know that a lot of BBSers remember my incessant job threads two years ago. I also had the experience problem (although I had tons of experience, just not as much as they wanted).

Agencies are good. A friend of mine works for KForce and gets paid GREAT money, but he couldn't' get on there until he'd gotten his MCSE.

One thing that I saw in the magazine Fast Company -- it said only 4% of jobs are gotten online. I focused a lot on the online thing and got nowhere.

    What can you do?

You need to go to your school's career center. Finding a job is a full time job. With a moniker like yours I can assume you aren't putting as much effort into it as possible. I know this because I used to be a Pothead as well. There is alot of TV involved and you aren't waking up at seven in the morn. The market right now also implies that you might have to get a non IT job. Pay your rent, get some experience doing anything, just stable job experience for the old res and you will be fine in two years.

If you want to find a good job, wake up at seven, research companies on the net, find their HR people and contact them, also go to job fairs with fifty copies of your resume, go to staffing agencies, go to the city's HR department, talk to everyone you know and look for now hiring signs. Good luck, it takes about eight hours a day for about a month.

Here's a good networking tip that I heard about.

If you find an opening through the newpaper or through the web, chances are that hundereds of other people have found that opening as well so hundereds of people will apply for that position and chances are if you just send your resume, it will just get lost in the shuffle.

Say that you find an IT opening at Dell. Rather then just send your resume, you should try to find out who the hiring manager is. You can do this by sending an e-mail to everyone you know asking if they know anyone that works at Dell. If you can do the necessisary leg work, you can call the hiring manager directly. Chances are the manager will refer you back to HR but now you can contact HR and give them the hiring manager's name and tell them that the hiring manager told you to contact HR. This is a way to make yourself stand out and may be worth a try.

    Good luck!

no way really baked....i work at Dell, and we are always hiring. you don't need any sales experience to get hired on. it wouldn't hurt, but it's not a requirement.
