Yeah I have not seen any sports groups. I think the main goal of this alliance is just to get some pub on Colbert Report. They are well organized though and have a forum and good diplomatic skills.
I haven't created my nation I wanted to know what color first, and I was joking about the war. How do I see what nations currently exist? And does it matter where I locate myself?
Does not matter at all where you are. your resources are at random. I'm not sure if you can see which ones exist. It will not be on any map because there are over 37K nations and they cannot all exist on one globe.

Once you get your nation just search for Liustan which is my nation. It might be better just to post your ruler name and nation name here and let me messege you. After you create your nation go to the forum and register under your nation's Ruler name (the one you decide on). Then go to the incoming members forum and sign up.
