For the past week and a day, I have been having connection problems with my DSL. Before, it was probably once a week I would get the "Broadband link is currently not available" page and I would wait for 10 minutes or so and everything would get back to normal. For over a week now, it's been pretty much 7-8 times a day. I can get a couple of hours window to surf the net, but then it crashes down again. That damn red light keeps going on and off on my modem and just as I type this out it goes out again.

I've been waiting for the Maintenance guy from SBC to call me...so in the meantime, I'll just ask, is it possible for the thundering and raining that was happening and is happening to be a cause for all of this? I'm in the Aldine area. Maybe I should just go to a Starbucks.

Hey, net's back on, time to post!

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago. I was continuously rebooting the modem. I ended up doing a system restore on my CPU and when I did the problem went away.

Had that problem Saturday morning...called and they said they had reported problems in the same area in Houston..they had an ATT van at the apartment when I left and when I came back it worked. Must be the rain?

ive had the occasional issue as well, over the last 2 weeks. For the most part its ok and i never had much problems before, but recently its been iffy.

I know they are soon offering 9maybe already are) a 'faster' dsl..maybe thats part of the problem:confused:

I had problems with my DSL connection last week - one of the big thunderstorms knocked out the electricity here for a couple of hours, and when it came back, my modem's DSL light would stay flashing red and couldn't connect. It turns out that the storm had fried the modem's DSL port, so they just replaced the modem and everything was fine again
