So I was at jiujitsu class yesterday and I felt a slight tweak just below my belt line. Not too long after I started feeling soreness from my adductor area on my inner thigh. I couldn't feel any bulging or anything and it isn't killing me when I cough or sneeze. That said I feel like I may have ****ed something up since my pain seems to be directly in the spot that I am seeing that people with inguinal hernias have pain.

Has anyone ever had a "minor" hernia? Will I still need surgery? What kind of doctor do I even see for this? A GI doc?

Kinda had the same thing you mention. The pain was extreme for a few days and I went to see a doctor. They examined it via teh butthole ( :( ) and the doc basically said it was pre-hernia stage and the area already widened/opened up a bit, with a chance of a full hernia if I did too much physical activity with that area in the next months.

No surgery or treatment neccessary, but had to stop doing sports for some weeks. It's almost gone now, but I had pain after workouts for a few months.

I had bi-lateral hernia surgery 2 years ago. I would get sharp pains in the lower abdomen, I had a bulge on the right side, but the worst part was getting out of bed. Every night, as I lie flat, the abdomen wall would settle into it's correct position, and when I stood up in the morning, the wall would slide back down and through the hernia. Every morning was excruciating pain for a few minutes until all the parts re-positioned themselves.

The surgery itself was easy. He did laparoscopic (minimally invasive) surgery, inserting pieces of mesh thru a tiny incision about a quarter inch long. Initial recovery was only a couple of weeks, but I had to be very careful for about 6 months. I could exercise, but if I felt pain I had to stop and not push myself.

Almost exactly what behad said minus the excruciating pain... I got one on college and it was just a general discomfort/annoyance. Same surgery as well. I opted to have a pain pump installed at the incision which was literally a tiny catheter with a hand activated pump administering a local anesthetic - practically made pain meds unnecessary.

I was young so recovery time was quick - very limited exercise for a few weeks but back to normal within a 6 weeks or so. About two months ago I felt like I was re aggravating it so I avoided work out for while, got checked again and everything has been normal since.

I had a hernia back in 2000. Had surgery & was back to work in a little over a week & back to playing softball in 6 weeks. Its not that big of a deal. Definitely Go see your PCP soon and get a proper diagnosis. If it is a hernia, he'll refer you to the right person.

    good luck

I had hernia surgery in March. I started feeling occasional pain last summer, it would come and go, wasn't too concerning and one day I saw a bulge below the belt line on my lower right side so I made a Dr. apt. and had hernia surgery 2 weeks later. I had lots of pain those two weeks leading up to the surgery.

I've had a bad recovery, Dr. says I may be a 1%'er that continues to have pain from the surgery long after. I have a workout regime that is starting to work and stretch out the scare tissue. I get these quick sharp pains from a nerve that can bring me to my knees. The pain is less frequent the past 2 weeks. It's now been 4 months since my surgery.

Had a hernia last year and didn't even realize it until it had gotten pretty bad. I started noticing some discomfort after standing or running for long periods. It got to the point where I couldn't stand for more than 20 minutes. My PCP referred me to a general surgeon who performed an open surgery. He said open was better than non-invasive when it comes to hernia. Recovery time was pretty quick but the first few days sucked. I did a Tough Mudder about 12 weeks after the surgery (doctor said I'd be fine by then) without any complications. Doing any type of core work is a bit iffy still and it might be something that I have to just be a bit more careful about going forward but that's not a big deal. For the most part I'm back to my regular routine.

Had a slight one a few years ago. I haven't felt the symptoms in a while but it would essentially make my lower abdomen and left testicle hurt really bad from time to time

I heard they put you down if you get mild hernias.

I expect nothing less than a dick amputation and/or gender reassignment surgery.

She said she couldn't find a hernia but she said to take it easy for a couple weeks.
