I've looked at some identity theft protection places recently just out of curiosity and I'm wondering if anyone has used any of them like LifeLock.com.

    Thanks in advance.

I use Prepaid Legal ID Theft. Active monitoring and a monthly report. $12 per month.

I am a director for PPL, so email me for details. I don't want to spam the site.

If you own your own home, it should be a part of your homeowners insurance...at the very least, it should be available as an add-on to your policy. The price is typically next to nothing. That doesn't keep it from happening, but it's a great way to protect yourself if it does.

Maybe you can help me then because I think this service sucks. It monitors one credit file and it is infinitely slower than what I received via Experian. I was told that it monitored all kind of other stuff (medical reports, etc.) but I haven't seen any of it.

Someone lied to you. I've never heard of it monitoring medical reports. You need to talk to the guy that sold you the program or call customer service and cancel it if you are not getting what you were sold. Some of these guys will say whatever you want to hear to make a sale. It gives everyone abad name.

I use a credit monitoring service, Privacy Assist which monitors any changes to my credit from all 3 agencies and gives me my credit score when I ask for it. costs me $9.99 a month. It's not the same as identity theft protection from what I hear, but it's good enough for me.

Gotcha, will make the call. The Pre Paid Legal service rocks though!

I use a service that my bank provides, it's a nominal fee but at least I have some sort of protection.

About the closest thing I use is credit protection from identityguard.com. Been using that for a few years. Not sure about this stuff you're looking at, though. Hmm...

Hate to bump a 3 year old thread, but basically ran into some identity theft and was wondering if anyone here has used a service to help clean it up or one to help protect going forward?

Was not impressed with LifeLock, have been looking into CSIdentity.

    Thanks

Do YOU have it, or do you just know about it?

I'll ask my agent about this.

I am currently using one for free for 5 years because the place I worked accidentally leaked out personal information about several hundred or so employees. It is called Triple Alert Monitoring.

PM me and I will send you a free 3 month try out. I don't benefit in any way, but pass along a superb service.

I seem to remember one of these companies...the CEO was putting his private info out there as part of the advertising. Then, someone got to him.

Did I recall that correctly? I think I did.

You could start by changing your CF moniker.

    That'll be $9.95, please. ;)

Edit: Just realized the OP posted this 3 years ago...
