I'm going to see the Aggies play Pitt this weekend at Heinz Field. I'll also be taking in a Pirates game at PNC Park on Friday. Both stadiums look pretty incredible. I think I'll boo the Pirates for sucking so bad against the Cards. They didn't help the 'stros at all. Anyways, has anyone every visited or lived there before? Is there anything special to do or see while I'm up there?
I was born about 200 miles from there, but never really spent much time in the area. I can say it is a beautiful part of the country, especially this time of year.
I have been to the airport before, I had a few layovers there back in 1999 when I was working in West Virginia. All I saw was snow outside, that's about it. I would like to see their new stadium, let me know how it looks/feels. I did see a pretty cool special on TLC about the implosion of Three Rivers Stadium. That is all of my Pittsburgh knowledge for now...
Go to Mount Washington across downtown, and have a bird eyes view of the beautiful cross of three rivers and downtown Pitts. Cathedral of learning of U P is prob worthy visiting also.
I know someone who visited there, said he really liked it; this was about four years ago. Said the only problem was he could never get a cab. Maybe I should start a cab company there...
One thing you gotta do in Pittsburgh. There's a sandwich shop called Primanti Brothers....its an institution. The sandwiches are served with the slaw and fries inside the sandwich (so the dock workers could take it all to go and eat on the fly). Here's the link...the place is awesome. Drink an Iron City beer with your sandwich....a great combo. (yeah the beer is schwag, but its fun to go local) Good luck trying to finish it. http://pittsburgh.citysearch.com/profile/8619667
took a roadtrip a couple of months ago to see a play at Carnegie Mellon University. It's the Pitts. Alot of ugly bridges and buildings, looks like they are stuck in the sixties(the buildings and the bridges) the college part of town is nice, however. And Wonderboys was filmed there, all about the Burgh. Great flick.
