Before they get banned? The reason the Dems lost congress in the first place was partly due to the 1994 ban on certain guns and magazine capacity. Now that they have it back they will probably try it again. One thing is for sure the prices are bound to go up.

Yep. But not out of fear or anything. Just because I like to shoot.

You've got to be kidding. No one is going to take your guns away. If you had anyone to fear on that score, it was Bush and the Patriot Act. Taking away your guns for "national security" was a logical progression with all the restrictions on personal liberty pushed through by Bush and the GOP Congress. If I were you, I'd relax, quit believing all the talk show/NRA BS, and go hunting. It's fun. Democrats do it, same as anyone else with an interest in hunting, gun collecting, target shooting, re-enactments. Many of us have guns. Our fathers and grandfathers have/had guns. Heck, many of the womenfolk that vote Democrat have guns. Wake up, and smell the coffee. Then go shoot a damn deer. One ran into my van, the stupid thing, and did $2500 bucks worth of damage. A big buck cost me some bucks, lol!

Yeah I guess that whole crime bill thing in september of 1994 didn't happen? I carry every day and it limited the number of bullets I can carry from 16 to 11...or it tried to.....I had to buy magazines that cost 5 times as much to just be legal.

My main use for guns is not for hunting target shooting or re-enactments.

If you do stock up be sure you buy them from me! Send me an email and I'll quote a price.
    :)

But the assault weapons ban was very narrow in that it went after 'black guns', it had built in sunseting, there was a democratic president who didn't veto it, and it still took a whole lot of effort to get it made into law.

Nobody is taking away your guns.

OK, why do you need those 5 extra bullets? What do you do?

You know what you are, with all due respect? Needlessly paranoid. I have an old friend with the same frame of mind. He sees a conspiracy to take his guns away behind every bush, behind every tree, behind every Democrat. It's bull****. It's pathetic. Where were you when the Patriot Act was assaulting our freedoms? Cleaning your handgun? Good for you. I keep mine clean as well. And I'm a liberal Democrat. That must rock your world. Deal with it.

It's called the right to defend yourself and limiting my ability to do so is a restriction on that right.

Yeah, you have 11 bullets to defend yourself why do you need more? That seems enough to me.

BTW, I am not against having guns for defense, hunting, or whatever but I understand some limitations on weapons. We are able to have what I believe is adequate defense in the form of handguns or guns in general just nothing excessive. Like I said, who needs an AK-47 anyway?

Oh wow my world is so rocked!

How do you feel about restrictions on abortions? I guess your totally fine with that? Not paranoid at all about them just using it as a stepping stone to ban them completely.

It isn't being paranoid when they already banned the guns and the magazines the last time they were in power.

By all means yes. Buy all the guns you can and have fun hunting deer with your semi-automatic assault rifle with armor piercing bullets.

And god help us if you find yourself in a room of 16 terrorists and you only have 11 bullets.

I know a guy that talks a lot like Casey. He still b****es and moans about not being able to carry around a fully automatic rifle. He owns well over 300 guns and doesn't hunt or regularly go to target practice. He even has some license to be a gun dealer where he can keep all of these guns that only law enforcement officers would normally have. The guy pisses and moans non stop about how the Democrats limited his right to have guns while sitting in a house with over THREE HUNDRED guns. I find it pretty funny.

One time he was held up at gunpoint. He had his own pistol that he always carries with him. Luckily he wasn't hurt...and you can make a strong argument that he possibly saved his life by having a gun to protect himself, but I found it hilarious that the guy ran through all of his ammo and didn't hit the guy that was attempting to rob him at close range. The guy, after talking about how much he needs his guns, shot the hell out of his pickup truck and didn't hit or apprehend the guy that was robbing him...

Which piece of legislation are you referring to specifically?

But they're not "Banning guns." First, that would probably be ruled unconstitutional and secondly, they're not stupid enough to commit political suicide after watching the republicans do just that.

And finally, Bush is still president and has veto power.

Besides, gun control isn't on anyone's agenda anymore. Other policy issues will take priority.

I'd really rather hear your response to the Patriot Act question. Although it's rather unfair of Deckard to frame it as such, seeing as damn near every democrat voted for it too - and twice at that.

Meh - my gun-crazy neighbor made the same comment about "don't take my guns" this morning as we rode to work. I told him not to buy into NRA propoganda. Seriously, when have the dems ever really restricted weaponry? And I'm talking about more than 5 frikkin bullets.

Better question - when has that ever happened with a Republican president in power?
