I've been seeing all of these long lines everywhere on the news and took my shot today. I went to a small polling station in Galena Park by my work (Galena Park Library) and was in and out in under 5 minutes. Feels so good to cast my vote, and I even got a sticker! I guess they ran out of lollipops or something.
I think i'm going to try and go early vote today. I think it will be a short line since i'm in Spring, or atleast i'm hoping.
I was going to stop by one of the polls tomorrow to ask this, but if somebody here knows it could save me a trip. I just registered earlier this month and got my voter registration card in the mail yesterday, on it it says that it's valid from 11/04/08. Since the ballots aren't submitted until the 4th can I vote early or will I have to wait?
No idea, but you might find your answer at the link below. It's where I found out that I didn't have to vote in my precinct for early voting. http://www.harrisvotes.com
I went and there were a lot of people, but not a long wait at all. I was in and out in 10 minutes or less.
Nah, I probably won't early vote. Actually I say that and I lie. I might. I have to see if I got my card in the mail yet or not. The line wasn't that bad back in '04 though. Maybe, maybe no.
You don't need your card, you only need your drivers license. They can look up your voting information.
Yup. I lost my card. They scan your DL and send you to a booth. If you get a lollipop instead of a sticker please report back.
I live in Seattle, and Washington is trying to move to completely mail-in ballots. Oregon already does it. Washington was supposed to be there for this election, but it got pushed back to 2009 for mandatory implementation. Got my ballot in the mail on Saturday, and my wife and I filled out our ballots over a nice dinner. It's awesome being able to research every initiative and proposition before as you're voting. A lot of people in our neighborhood are having debate and vote parties where you bring your ballot, discuss the issues, and fill it out before you leave. I've voted in every election since I was eligible, but I don't think I've ever been as excited to vote as in this election.
Ahh, that's nifty then. My sister being able to vote this year threw me for a loop and then I remembered my cards in the filing cabinet, lol. I'll probably be early voting at any rate to save the hassle of waiting in long lines.
