First off, what is everyone's opinion of DISH? I'm thinking of getting it and i got a deal from 3rd party retailer called American Satellite where I get 120 channels, HD, DVR, and cinemax for $19.99 for first 6 months with 2 yr committment, well they had trouble entering me into the system so the rep asked me to call DISh directly and they should give me the same deal. The DISh rep told me what she was offering was impossible and quoted me the same package but for $39.99 or something in that ball park.

So my question is, has anyone bought service through one of these 3rd party retaliers and when you pay, do you pay them or DISH directly? I'm just afraid i'm going to commit to the promotion to find out they actual DISH provider will bill me something else totally different.

Love Dish.. been a customer for over 13 years.. only flaw between Dish and DirecTV is Sunday Ticket (NFL)... but if you don't watch that crap... then you're set for Dish.. they're also coming out with a bad ass receiver that will have a built in Sling Box pretty soon. Never done it through a third party though no.. third party has their own prices though... usually they are legit... works the same way as 3rd party cellular phone companies work.. I know people that have done 3rd party..totally legit.. you get billed for what they offer you.. and if you don't... you take that slob of papers that has the bill and everything.. you enter their store and throw it in their face and say this "goddamnit, I'm not paying of this ****, you can go to hell" you show them who's boss... Don't let these mediocre 3rd party punks mess with you. Done deal.

There are several companies called American Satellite I found out, the one I got it from seems to be the most popular and reputable one. Here is a helpful link with some reviews of their service.

They offered me 120 channels, HD service, HD DVR, Local channels for $19.99 and they are giving me a free ipod, surround sound, or digital camera....but i have to call customer service after the install to select the free gift...i'm sure it's probably a major hassle to get it from them though as nothing is really ever free.

If you can get that price, its a pretty good deal. It looks like DirecTV is offering the same package for 54.99 for 1 year with a 2 yr contract, but with 200 channels. Its a 15.00 difference from Dishes 39.99, but i might be better to pay the extra 15.00 for one year than the full price for Dishes 6 months.

I find people like DirecTV better, but its usually a mix ... some will say they like DIshe's receivers better but DirecTV's customer service, programming and reliability. I prefer DirecTV because they do not haggle as much. Nothing is more frustrating then getting offered a price for a product, calling in to get it, and then getting the dreaded, "uhhh we have no notes" or "we don't offer that".

    Here is an updated..

I called today to confirm the price I was getting and they said my account was being charged $39.99 instead of the $19.99 I was quoted, they said that was a promotion from July and I placed the order in August. My rep who placed the order clear as day quoted me $19.99 on August the 3rd the day I placed the order, so I believe they should have honored the quote or did something to make up for their agent not quoting me the right price. It's even in their notes that I spoke to her and she quoted me that so they admitted that their agent was unaware of the price change but instead of doing anything about it, they told me "well your still getting a great deal and saving alot of money!" she almost got off the phone with me after that as to ASSUME i was going to accept that price and stay with them, I told them No, and I was going to cancel, after some rebuttals, she sent me to another agent who was supposed to cancel the account but i went through the same Effing thing, she tried to talk me into staying with the new $20 more per month price...she finally tells me she will transfer me to a cancellation specialist, so this is the 3rd person now and she does the same thing! Tells me how great of a deal I am still getting, I get pissed and I tell her "I don't want to talk to anymore agents who want to try to talk me into staying, I just want to CANCEL my account" she then says she is willing to take off $50 from my first bill, I told her "you can give me $1000 right now, I still will cancel bc it's not right for you guys to quote me one price and then try to bill me something else" she finally cancels the account...than I find out they already charged $49 into my credit card for the activation fee so now I have to fight for my refund.

I guess if the sales agent would have given me the right price and not screwed it up I wouldn't have had this problem but I am a firm believer that you should honor a price that is quoted to a customer and not make them simply accept the fact that they will be paying $20 more per month.

Any suggustinos where else to go? I'm thinking DIRECTV or UVERSE...although uverse gets expensive for all the HD and stuff...im paying about $107 now with internet and cable and that's with a special promotion.
