Hes very similiar to his brother Brent Barry.

Hes tall and fairly decent on the defensive end and he can shoot. Also, he can run point just like his brother. Hes a free agent this year and I think the Rockets could use a guy like him on the team.

The only thing Jon got on Brent is 3pt shooting. Brent is tons better than Jon...but should we sign him? no....i don't want a good guy that hustles every time he's on the court to be on a team that don't know what hustling means.

Yeah, because our team never plays hard or hustles.

Apparently not good enough to get us into the playoffs and i dont' mean that one game difference with phoenix either....if we had played better D and hustle on both ends like we did in the beginning of the season we could have locked up a playoff spot without worrying about playing catch up like we did. but this will be saved for another day....:D

i wonder what do you call the play of posey "the hustle man", cat's hustle defense on tmac, kobe, AI, ummm.. cato's hustle in the pain for rebounds both offensively and defensively.... steve franchise's aggressive rebound percentage for his position, yao ming's hustle on the defensive end against shaq.. hmm.. yeah, the dont know hustle.

posey is one of the rare guys that i actually see hustling. and sorry but in cat's case, he should show up to D up everyone and not just guys he wants to embarass. yes yao and cato hustle...but i was talking about the team as a whole. you don't win rings with just a fourth of your team doing all the hard work.

We didn't get into the playoffs for several reasons (didn't play smart basketball; Griffin was slow to developl; Yao got worn down by the end of the year; etc.).

I don't see how you can say we didn't hustle or play hard if you watched all the games. This just is nowhere near correct.

Better D? Holy cow. We were a top 5 defensive team!

Stats are misleading. like in the NFL, the Indy Colts were the top 5 defensive team but if you know or watch football, you couldn't see that--like how, statistically the rox might be top 5, but i don't see it.

Some people will just never admit they made an asinine statement.

In comparison with 28 other teams, who played the same amount of games that we did, we finished #5 in FG%. I can not believe you are discrediting this and saying that it does not mean anything.

You may not "see it" but you surely can see the end result.

Stats are misleading? So I guess that means that Dallas wasn't a very good offensive team in the league, even though they averaged the most points. Or that Sacramento is not really one of the best rebounding teams, even though they led the league in rebounding.

Some people's bashing of our team knows no bounds ...................

It's often said that if Brent had half the heart Jon had he'd be a star.

Jon is a very creative, tough player. He does get out of hand every once in a while, but that's part of the package. He's one of the few players who can alter a game by only playing a couple minutes.

He'd be an excellent pick-up for the Rockets.

Before Carlisle was fired, he was a lock to leave Detroit. Carlisle did not like him and he was always jerked around. Now, I don't know. LB may want to keep him.

um dude, i said i took back my comment. i, unlike some members on this board, will admit i made a mistake....simply just scroll up and you can read for yourself.

as for the stats, i'm sorry but i never said it meant nothing.

and as for bashing, yes i do bash our team from time to time. why? because unless they went 82-0 this season and won a championship there were errors and i will point out errors that i saw. one was that the team only hustled and played to their peak during the first half of the season..when they were really a joy to watch. but then they fell into that funk where they only showed up when they played the best teams and forgot about the lesser teams (except for atlanta hawks). please read the post where i retracted my statement and please consider what i have posted and THEN attack me.

MY apologies. I did not see that you took that comment back. I feel much better now.

However, I still disagree with you that our team quit hustling and playing hard. We may have had momentary lapses by losing to teams that we shouldn't have, but we made up for it by beating teams we shouldn't have.

Overall, I thought we kept getting after it.

dont' worry about it. it's just hard right now with the coaching situations and the new members just posting the same thing every time.

Yes the Rockets beat some good teams...but like you said they've also lost to bad teams too. This is a sign that they're still young and only want to bust their ass when the national spotlight is on them...

Back to the point at hand. I'd love to pick up Jon Barry. A hustle player that plays defense and is excellent from the perimeter? Sign me up. Any idea how much he'd cost?

sometimes they just underestimate their opponents.. they have that mentality that when they facin a team with a worse record than them, that they could take them easily.. we need to remove that from them. they should play every single game like a play-off game even if its in cleveland, chicago....

I think he'll re up w/ the pistons like Hobbs said.. WIth Brown coaching, i think Jon will get more playing time. as for salary implications....maybe 4-6 mil?

I would give him the MLE and thats about it. Barry is a fine 20 MPG player but people forget that he is already 34 years old.

Also, he might be Brown's type of player. Detroit has his Bird rights so I would not be suprised to see them keep him and offer him more $.
