1) I thought LCD screens couldn't have "image burn" and 2) Doesn't it take a lot longer than 2 weeks to create image burn?
Maybe 2 weeks of the same image without the TV being turned off can do this. It will probably fade over time.
I think it depends. I have had burn in on a fairly new flat panel lcd monitor, it had to do somewhat with a power voltage issue possibly though as the monitor eventually died. Had lots of power outages around the time. They wouldn't make screensavers if image burn weren't a concern I wouldn't think. You can probably buy a DVD and try and "wash" that image away though. So its probably worth the try.
No it doesn't... "Some say that simply turning off the display for 24-48 hours eliminates the effect, while others have claimed the effect is permanent in extreme cases. Nonetheless, home users of LCD televisions have little to fear."
I agree. Main reason? Most, if not all DVD players have a screen saver that pops up, or an auto power down to prevent burn in from happening. Even the cheapest Durabrand or Apex has a screen saver.
