I see Clutch advertising the Bonobos pants. Has anybody here bought them yet? It says the pants are supposed to be a better fit than regular baggy pants at the store.

It shows Shane Battier wearing Bonobos pants on their website also.

    http://www.bonobos.com/blog/news/shane-battier-in-bonobos-proto-golfwear/

When we referenced pro basketball player Shane Battier in the description of our royal blue cords, the Defenders, we didn’t anticipate that he’d see it and become a fan of our company. A few months later, Shane’s a great customer of Bonobos, and even asked us to outfit him for a recent charity golf tournament!

Check out the gear we crafted for Shane, and how well he rocks those Turqs out on the golf course. We’ve heard repeatedly that our pinwales are the perfect pants for a round of 18, and have been getting more and more inquiries about a Bonobos golf line. I think we could give these guys some better options—keep it jaunty and gentlemanly without giving anyone an ocular migraine.

What do you guys think about a Bonobos golf line? What do you love/hate about golfwear as it stands? We have loved using this blog and our Twitter page to develop a robust cycle of communication with our customers, so keep letting us know how to steer our product development and we’ll keep listening!

I think John Stockton might find some interest in a few of their shorts styles.

There's a brand calling itself Bonobos? A bonobo is a species of ape known for its sexual promiscuity. Female bonobos barter sex for food/work.

And they're advertising using African American professional athletes?

    This will not end well.

Not true. Bonobo essentially means "The Common Chimpanzee"...

    Isn't that the same thing?

Okay, see if this better suits you: it's a stupid name for a clothing company.

I guess if you want to name your clothing line after the terrible, terrible slut of the animal kingdom, no one is going to stop you.

Wow, settle down dick cheese. Bonobos are freaking awesome. Have you ever taken a course in Anthropology? I am guessing no...If they really wanted a bad clothing name, "Human" would have been more adequate, in terms of disgracing the "Animal Kingdom"...

I truly hope you have money invested in "Trollop Ape" Enterprises, or are one of its 20 employees, to have this kind of reaction.

I would demand my money back from your anthropology and/or zoology professors.

    That is false.

"Females engage in GG rubbing, a sociosexual behavior that reduces tensions between individuals. Bonobos are said to be closer in sexual behavior and biology to humans than any other animal."(Stanford, Biological Anthropology 2009)
    Aghast=Owned...
To call an animal like the Bonobo a "terrible, terrible slut" is just idiotic, and unclassy. One of the most intelligent mammals on the planet. Maybe the most intelligent, if you consider humans to be a "virus"...

I'm just saying, it's an odd branding statement to make for an upscale male slacks retailer.

Well, I don't consider humanity a virus, but I'm glad to see that, at long last, the bonobo has found its human defender.

I will respond to your heavily clipped academic article in the only way I know how: bonobo p*rn.

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KagyO9zS_ro&hl=en&fs=1&start=171"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KagyO9zS_ro&hl=en&fs=1&start=171" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

This one is not censored, as above, but is keeping more in the spirit intended (NSFW: obvious):
    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/QZiTzxL3Nh4&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/QZiTzxL3Nh4&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Your ability to discern another's sense of humor is, like the bonobo, heavily endangered.

However, unlike the bonobo, I will not lay down prostrate and submit myself to you just to resolve this petty conflict, for I am not a wanton w****. I will carry on this fight, for it is an Internet Fight, and is therefore of supreme importance.

Thus, I am not the peaceful bonobo (which, again, is not synonymous with the "Common Chimpanzee," as you stated above). I am, instead, the true chimpanzee Travis. Having ingested my nightly feast of cheap box wine and handfuls upon handfuls of Xanax, I am stoned, warlike, and easily peeved. Watch your face, Internet Aggressor.

And I reiterate, that "Bonobos" is a stupid name for pants.

Me too. I'm quite amused that someone else is, seemingly entirely earnestly, willing to argue about monkey sex, either in scientific or "lamens" terms. I have no idea why, but how can one pass up the opportunity when it occurs?
