I am the biggest p***y you'll ever meet. I am so non-confrontational it's ridiculous. For example, my upstairs neighbors are the loudest I've ever had. Every freakin' day, they stomp around. Either they weigh 450 lbs. a piece, or their throwing their **** around their apartment. On Tuesday, a day which I was layed up with a hurt back and a migraine headache, they had some sort of vibrating machine that was vibrating my apartment for an entire hour. But do I say anything? Of course not. I don't go to the apartment complex either because that's worse, IMO. It's a whole new level of being a p***y. Plus, if their anything like mrpaige's neighbors, I'll have my life threatened. Anyway, that's the one thing, outside of my flab, that I hate about myself. Just thought I'd share.
Just call the cops on them. Deny you did it if they ask you about it. You can be a p***y with a quiet apartment that way.
b*stard...that's what I did again today, 3 fresh new dents, but they stomped 3 times back...they've been quiet ever since.
I've dealt with the same crap, too. I thought by moving to the top floor of a complex (hope I'm not living upstairs from you... I'll start tip-toe-ing... really), I'd get rid of some of the noise and that's only been marginally successful. Talking to offenders in person hasn't helped. Calling the complex to complain doesn't either-- they just told me to call the 311 police # since it wasn't an emergency. I can't wait to own my own place... far enough away from neighbors to where I can't hear them...
Here is my theory RM95: Everyone has issues. I had that problem in my old apartment and I never said a thing. Why? Because the dude was a skinny b*stard, so I knew it had to be lousy carpentry...... Nothing you can do really..... Apartments are built cheaply, and living with the noise is part of the experience. And hey it could be worse...... You could have a receding hairline & pigeon **** all over your balcony!!!!
Don't try to broom trick, it never works. I know whenever the people beneath us do the broom trick, we just stomp back. It's quite a fun game...
Dude my buddy that was with me at Aussie's lives at Alexan on the top floor. His building is the one that faces Congress Ave. I wonder if he is making all that noise.....
How powerful are your speakers? Next time you leave your apartment, turn up some Backstreet Boys or N'Sync. I admit those boy bands have some bass that will **** with your neighbors. Fight fair.
My roommate and I were repeatedly accused last year of being too loud in our apartment by the tenants beneath us. The thing was, the building was OLD. We could easily hear what was going on above us, too. It really became annoying, because we literally had to tip toe around our apartment, and couldn't play music with any bass at all, much less have a party or something like that. It really just wasn't worth the hassle with the land lord, etc. So please make sure it really is their fault, rm95, before doing anything drastic. Incidentally, non-confrontational people kick ass as long as their not passive aggressive .
RM95: nope... I'm down southwest. Thanks for the warning though... Have you talked to other neighbors about the noise? What have they done? Sometimes multiple complaints from different tenants helps...
Hmmm...the music thing might not be so effective since they live upstairs. You would have to position your subwoofer in a way that they would feel it. A lot easier if you lived above them. I live on the top floor of my apartment. My speakers aren't very big but they are pretty powerful. I have my bass on pretty high. No noise complaints yet, but I only turn it up during the day. Never at night.
haven, That's why I haven't gone to the complex, that seems to passive-aggressive. This is a brand new complex, so I'm pretty sure it's them. Drewdog, Nope, I face North and have a kickass downtown view. Oh well, they've been quiet tonight, or maybe it's just the hail and debris smashing up against my windows that's drowning them out.
R95, just be sure. Alot of apartments have thin walls and ceilings. Are they stomping, or are they just taking heavy steps?
I just bought a new house not long ago. It's on a big lot and there is maybe 40-50 feet between my house and the one next door.So anyway I'm thinking cool I can crank the stereo without bothering anyone....so I'm listening to it a few weeks after I move in,middle of the day not really loud-loud but about halfway up the knob....sooooo anyway the old lady next door comes over and is like.." I can hear that allll the way in my living room" Ok thats fine,I don't really want to disturb anyone but the thing is,she's got these yippy f@#@@g dogs that I can hear in my living room all the damm time
