You guys need to chill. Yao NEEDs some work. If he sat around this summer he would be 400 lbs! No really, I don't see any problems for the CNT to be in semi-competition mode to get ready for the Olympics. The USA team is gettin' together to I hope.

Yao will get the "rest" he needs NOW, Noticed he didn't play in some of the games while he was in Dallas while he was injured. He's not going to play unless he's OK.

And he will get another month of rest before camp so that's great for him.

Safety, now that's another story. But remember, China is about as neutral as the swiss. They are not considered to be targets. Yao is considered almost a national treasure for China so it's not a good idea to piss off China and mess with the CNT.

Can anyone guarantee the one month before the season thingie?

I only heard ONCE that he had no rest, because there is some Asian thingie right after the Olympics.... But now you guys are saying he has a month off?

    Can anyone confirm either way?

There's a fine line between being a fan and a whiner. lol Do any of you complainers remember what Del Harris said when Yao reported to the Chinese National Team? HE WAS OUT OF SHAPE, and that was to be expected. How long was Yao not playing? About a month. Go figure. Basketball players play basketball. Great basketball players dont take the whole summer off. Jordan didn't. Olajuwon surely didn't do it and the list goes on and on. Anyone thats ever played basketball knows that if you lay off for a while, it takes you twice as long to get back to where you was before the layoff. Sheesh turn that  into a :)

Olajuwon took the whole summer off. He was never in great shape at the beginning of the season. he didn't believe in working out the whole summer.

The terrorist that are waging war against America would be beyond foolish to incure the wrath of the Chi Coms. I would think Yoa should be safe from terrorists.
