I work in a internet call center from 11pm-8am and I don't do crap besides surf the net and answer a couple phone calls every hour or so.

Anybody else lucky enough to get paid for surfing the net?

No, but I can surf whenever I want to...does that count?

I had worked that shift as a desk clerk in a motel once...once. In a small Texas town, it sure got interesting between 1a and 3a when the bars closed. :D

Still, I'd be green with envy if I was on the shift presently.

I've worked the graveyard shift 2 times... I used to unload trucks for RPS and Wal-Mart... needless to say, I'm glad I have a cubicle job now. :)

well, my older sister works that shift

She is a nurse at Hermann Hospital and she works from 7 pm to 7 am because it pays more and did it before at her previous hospital in San Antonio. The holiday season is hectic for her because Christmas and Thanksgiving are probably the hospitals two busiest times of the year.

My former mother-in-law works the overnight shift at Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo. With the weekend differentials and overnight differentials, she ended up making more working 24 hours a week (with a third night added every three or four weeks) than she would've working 36 hours on the day shift.

I probably should get a job on the night shift. I'm generally up anyway and there's only so much Law & Order and Simon & Simon one can watch on A&E in the middle of the night.

Tell her to go work in the Ben Taub trauma unit... you haven't seen hectic till you've worked there during "rush hour". And of course, some of the most vicious-looking wounds seem to check in there, too...

    Behad is now awake!

I work rotating shifts, either 4am till 4pm, or 4pm till 4am. Currently I'm on nights till Tuesday morning.

Shift work is great once your body gets accustomed to it. Nothing goes on here at night, so I spend most of the night surfing the net or "meditating". :)

"Meditating" translated from Behadish means eating the pink donuts.

I may be a bit young, but is "RPS" the 1920's version of "UPS?"
