I started having body aches yesterday and thought I was just hungover. But this morning when I woke up the symptoms were worse, and I took my temp and discovered I had a 102 fever. Now the REALLY bad thing about all of this? I leave for Vegas at 6:00 am tomorrow! I went to one of those emergency care places today and they gave me a prescription for Tamiflu. Ibuprofen has gotten my fever down some, but it's still hovering around 100. Am I going to be miserable the entire vacation? I've never had the flu before, what a great freaking time to get it!
I had the flu a few weeks ago and you might be able to save your trip if you start taking care of yourself right now Take Echinacea and Tylenol every few hours (wake up in the night to take your doses), drink TheraFlu, cover yourself up in layers when you sleep, and drink lots of water. I was miserable the first day/night, but was good enough to get out of the house the very next day (this was with a 102 temperature the day before). After the initial phase (when your fever goes away), you'll probably get a sore throat for a couple of days (take that antiseptic throat spray and gargle with salt water). Once that dies down, you'll get a cough/cold/runny nose. Just carry some cold medicine and tons of tissues.
I had it 2 weeks ago. I had 102 fever for days. My throat got so sore, I had to sleep with a cold towel on it. I had the flu for the 2000 New Year. That kind of sucked.
I have the flu right now. I've had it since X'mas day. The first day was absolutely horrible. But Right now, i'm runnin hot and i'm also having coughing fits every 15 mins.
I just had diarrhea for 3 days. I am good now. I have never been happier to see a real turd in my life.
That right there, might be a late push for post of the year. I want to bump this thread so more people see it. I got a flu shot for the first time in a long time, and right after, I got sick, but not flu sick. Just sluggish and tired. I don't think I've had the flu since I was 8. It sucked. I threw up, I was hot, I couldn't keep food down. Glad I just get the cold every now and then.
Just woke up and my temp is at 102.5 and I'm shivering like I am cold. Just took some ibuprofen. It seems to work a lot better for me at bringing down my temp as opposed to tylenol.
Add half a capful of eucalyptus oil in bowl of steaming hot water. Cover your head with a towel (draped over to capture the steam, not wear like a turban), close your eyes, and breathe in the vapours.
I usually get it every year by late December like clockwork, but have amazingly been able to avoid it this year. OMG GLOBAL WARMING
I've had a raging sinus infection since Xmas day. My Dr. can't give me steriods for it because I am diabetic, so I am just on an antibiotic and an antihistamine, which are taking longer to help me. Kind of ruining my 4 day weekend.
my mom has had a horrible flu since sunday before x-mas and is just now better. same thing, sore throat, fever for a few days, etc. she said it's one of the worst she's had. also, some of our friend's have been down with the flu and i hear it's quite contagious and very potent so be careful! i hope you have a good vacation but if you have what my mom has, i hope you got a comfy hotel to spend it in.
The flu this year is NASTY. I haven't had non-allergy sinus issues in years, and I got it right before Thanksgiving and was sick for weeks. My son got it first, then my wife, then me. And now we're all sick with some lesser funk. I blame Bush.
Did any of you happen to get the flu shot? If not, why not? I got one and I feel fine, and most of my family had the flu over the holidays. I get a flu shot every year.
that happened to me the week i got engaged. went with my girlfriend, soon to be fiancee, now wife of 10 years, to DisneyWorld with my family. had plans to ask her to marry me on that trip. started getting sick about 2 nights before we left. it felt like the flu coming on, but i had a flu shot. i lost my voice, and was a bit run down...but never had the awful flu symptoms. proposed...she said yes...great trip. got back to find my 2 roommates never left the apartment all spring break, because they had been so sick with the flu. i've gotten a flu shot every year since then.
