I was born in Peoria, IL! I was last there in August. Are you interning at Cat?

Hmmm....things to do....The casino is in East Peoria, on the riverboat. They built a rec center downtown that is supposed to be really nice. The Chiefs baseball team was good and have a nice new stadium downtown. If you're around during the season, Rivermen hockey is awesome. They have a couple of malls, nothing real special. Wildlife Prairie Park is pretty neat (can see buffalo, wolves, etc - used to have good brunches) and Jubilee State Park usually has some things going on similar to Renaissance Festival. If you like bike riding, there are good flat trails that run between several of the small towns (on old railroad routes). If you're from Houston, you'll like that cuz you can get some of the pollution out of your lungs. :) Hmmm..Is there anything specifically you're looking for?

Ya...i'm interning at Cat. They're actually bringing me up for a visit in a couple of weeks so i can check it out before i start next summer.

i really don't know what i'm looking for! lol. it sounds like a decent sized town where i can find stuff to do...the parks sound cool...as well as the rec center. i think i will definitely have to make the trip to wrigley for a 'stros game so i can heckle those damn cubbies!!! no offense if you're a cubs fan...i just can't stand the cubs!!!!!! (on second thought..i can't heckle Mo Alou...he's still my boy.)

Actually, in a few weeks they'll have the Festival of Lights. It's a parade with a bunch of floats with thousands (or millions?) of Christmas lights. After the parade they keep the floats on display through Xmas. They have some pretty elaborate ones.

Wrigley Field is awesome to see a game at. Yes, I am a Cubs fan. But since I've moved down here I've grown to appreciate the Astros. Always been a Rockets fan, though! Probably one of the few Rox fans born and raised in IL. :D

Isn't that the hometown of the great Richard Pryor?

    Holy crap, I almost forgot!!!!

When you are there you have to go to Avanti's. It's an Italian place that has a few locations, not expensive. Get their bread. If you don't have time to sit and eat, they have carry out (get one of their sandwiches made with the bread). Every time I'm there my gf and I stop and get a bag of loaves since you can't get anything like it in TX (at least, not that we've found). Enjoy!

Big Al's. The funny thing is that I have never been there but know about it because it's right next to the big public library downtown.
