I hate playing them and my friend always picks the suns because he knows the matchup is a nightmare for the rockets, which is fine because the overalll rating is equal but man I cant stop him from putting up 50+ points (3 min quarters) because If I try to contain nash using tmac it will leave bell open who shoots like 90% behind the arc or he will abuse shaq/amare dunking ability and if I try to control yao...amare will dunk on me and there is little I can do, so I try playing zone which can stop amare and shaq but will leave nash/bell wide open who rarely ever miss behind the arc....so basically I can stop nash, one on one, at the cost of amare/shaq dunking over yao, or I can double team the post which sometimes stop amare/shaq from dunking but it will leave nash/bell open who shoot like 90% behind the arc so either way my friend will get his 50+ points and all I can hope for is that tmac/yao get hot or otherwise I lose, any tips for stopping the suns?????????/

I haven't picked up the new 2k9 yet but I been playing bball games for yearssss. See if this helps.

Use ur small forward for help Defense.. Keep a big man like Tracy to cover Nash and Battier on Bell. Why not use Artest as the help defender? You should go big against Shaq/Amare, that means use legit 4s like Scola or Landry. Don't go small using Artest at the 4. You can use your Yao-Scola-Landry-Hayes combo for your PF and C positions.

so use man to man and have:
    tmac on nash
    battier on bell
    artest on hill
    scola on amare
    yao on shaq

I been putting artest on amare most of the time, but man I dont think scola can do much better because amare is a beast in the post

Its okay because you'll have both Scola AND Artest. When you have Artest down low, it's almost like having Yao guarding both Shaq and Amare.

Yao can more than easily handle Shaq. Use Artest as your "floater" and bring him down to double when need be. But don't automatically double everytime. Only if it looks like Scola's in trouble. When you do send Artest it'll force Amare to pass the ball out, then bring over Battier to switch on Hill, McGrady to Bell, and so on. Keep bringing help D.

Im going to give this lineup a go and see how it works out but I will mainly control tmac because sometimes the comp will leave nash alot of space, while I can stick to him like glue, and which will force him to dish it to amare....not sure how to tell the comp to double team amare with ron though

Have you tried the options where you can choose to play tight defense on Nash? That way, the comp wont leave Nash with much space.

I think you should learn how to play defense while switching players. Playing just on-ball defense with one player is predictable and also ineffective IMO. The computer AI will do a decent job with D so you don't have to worry about your player getting burned. Even if he does, you can switch to another player to help on defense. But usually I noticed computer does a pretty good job of staying infront of their man. What's more important is "being in the right place at the right time" and that means moving your players around so they're in good defensive position.

that lineup was amazing my friend refused to finish the game midway through the 4th quarter

nash didnt shoot a single 3 because I didnt let him, battier stopped bell cold, while ron stopped hill, and scola>>>>artest on guarding amare, the score was 52-26.....most of his points were from amare because his trio of guards bricked shot after shot :D :D :D :D

Another thing, I don't see the point of sticking to Nash like glue when he's one of the best passers in the league. Which is exactly why double teaming a point guard is usually one of the most pointless things to do. I'd rather have Amare or Shaq pass out of a double team than Nash, which will most likely leave Bell open for a 3.

I never double team nash, its just that when I let the comp control nash's defender my friend will just run around behind the 3 point line and chunk up a 3 , even when nash is 5-10 ft from the line, the comp will just sit there or play him lose allowing nash to sink, three, after three, after 3 ball in
