Yeah, limited minutes, but he seems to be the stereotypical "dumb but athletic" type of player. Still, if he can keep the PFs down, then he might be able to contribute...can't really comment on his defense, but his offense was terrible from what I saw; that one TO was just so dumb.

But hey! Maybe he just had an off game. And on a team like the Rockets, stockpiling young athletic players for a change might not be so bad. Still, I can't help but think that the Rockets could get someone better on that roster spot...

He looked......bad on D...which is why I thought we signed him....I could care less about his offense right now, but his on ball D was poor.

I would rather play Gerald Green...and sign Williams.

Jones can play. This was not his best game. He's a poor man's Quinton Ross so take that for what it is.

You say he can play then call him a poor man's Quinton Ross?

I know Quinton Ross is a solid defender but if that evaluation is accurate, Jones won't be here in a couple of weeks.

If he can help with guys like Lowry and Crittendon, then he may stick. Those guys made our perimeter defense look like utter trash.

he's amusing to watch during blowouts. Wouldn't dream of giving him siginificant minutes.

His ball handling looked atrocious. He looked slow but that could be due to him not playing for a while. He was brought in because he was a big swingman. He could play on Sunday versus Denver because they have some guy named Carmelo Anthony. Ira Newble was bought out today by Seattle and could be a option if they decide to replace Jones.

I think Bobby Jones can be a solid Bruce Bowen type player in this league. I think the Rockets brought him in to add size to the 2 guard position. Keep in mind that when playoff time comes around, the Rockets are going to have to guard Kobe, Ginobli, Stackhouse, etc with Shane and Luther Head.

Thoughts - why isn't he inactive? I want Gerald Green.

Because he is on a 10 day contract to see if we might want to keep him. Why sign if you aren't going to look at him. I wasn't impressed but it was his first game. Personally I would rather see Green get his minutes and look for another big. But Morey knows more than me. There is always nervousness for most players in there first game trying to impress. Maybe that's all it was and he will show us alot more... otherwise instead of being a poor man's Quinton Ross he's just going to be a poor man. Either way at this stage you gotta trust Morey.

I don't think it's Morey who decides inactive/active list though - that's the coach. And I would think you could get a good enough feel for him in practice - I just don't see how garbage minutes are going to make you decide either way. But again - I just want to see Gerald. :(

Practice is like hitting sandbags, real games are like going on the stage.

The Rockets can still pickup Williams if they want to by cutting Jones. As long as he is signed by tomorrow he can be on the playoff roster but I don't know if Morey will do this.

As long as he is signed by the end of the season, he can play in the playoffs. Again, players have to be cut by the first not signed by the first to be on a playoff roster.

So, since no one else has signed him yet, we have time.

    Who is Williams?

The Sonics waived Ira Newble. He'd be a good pickup for us, if we want a SG/SF defender. He was having a pretty good year for the Cavs, in my opinion.
