I am just wondering if people out there could tell me what we should do with all the forwards we got? Should we try to go out and get a dead-on shooter (alas Dell Curry type) to give us some type of threat off the bench? Let me know what the Rockets could possibly do to improve at some spots on the team where improvement is needed, or it could just be a way of getting rid of the excess weight we have at the Forward positions.

no. there are no trades necessary. nothing more is needed at this time.

    PERIOD.

a few players are free agents after this season and its not worth switching something that ain't broken for some old guy who will play 10 minutes a game, even though I will agree Dell Curry is THE BEST old guy in the NBA. i would really love to have him, but theres no need.

Did anyone hear the guy on the 610 post-game report after our Sixers win?? Said we should trade Yao Ming for Eddy Curry or Tyson Chandler.......If one person mentions anything close to that on here, lock it up Clutch. That guy was literally high, you could tell by his speech and background gestures and comments.

As for a trade, i like where this team is heading with its young nucleus. I don't think team chemistry is a concern at all, let's ride it out for a while-build on this new-found chemistry.

Well I say if SA would take Tito Maddoxs for Tim Duncan then I would pull the trigger on that trade if not then F.A.R.T. on the rest..

I heard Mo Taylor for Spree speculation on 610 today. I'm guessing they need Cato, will throw in another for sal fit. Oh yes, Oh yes, Oh yes. That's the fix. Would like Kurt Thomas more though.

Spree has only 2 years of his big contract left. He plays d. He plays 3. He can shoot and slash. He's a complete a-hole - but - I can live with it.

    Yao/ Collier/Griff
    KT /Griff/Tmo
    Spree/Rice/Tmo/Nachbar
    Mobes/Hawkins
    Francis/Norris

That can do some damage. Right. Now. Even more with Kurt Thomas in there. Intimidating d AND scoring at the post and the perimeter.

They can have Mo and Mooch for Spree, or Mo and Cato for Spree and Kurt Thomas. It's clear they want to unload Spree, and there's not a lot of takers. If I can trade an injured, expendable soft "power" forward for an injured, a-hole, get-down d playa, sure - sign me up for a coach choke collar.

Rudy can handle. He's had Max.

Don't know where Rich and Charlie got that speculation, though.

my opinion is to screw all the trade speculation. Let this team live and die by it's own doing. Believe!

My first impulse to the thought of Spree on the Rockets was "Hell no!" But, giving up MoT+Cato for Spree could work out. I still think we're weakest at the 3 spot. We'd be giving up 2 backups for a starter. Spree has had some problems which should not be overlooked, but on the court, he brings it...at both ends. He wouldn't have to be the man here. His slashing style and aggressiveness would fit in well. We could really use his D at the other end. I think Rudy could keep him under control and focesed too. We'd have to get a backup center, but it would certainly free up some of the congestion at the 4. Hmmmm, very interesting.

How long does Spree and Kurt Thomas' ontract last?
If they are less than 2 years, I think it is a good idea to trade
Mo. T and Cato for Spree and KT. Mo's contract is really long and he is not really producing now. Cato for KT is a wash. KT can play backup center as well as power forward and protect Yao.

I say we trade clutch the bear and turbo for a couple of playmates or pets. They wouldn't need to wear a costume just have rockets written somewhere on their body. I would most definitely go to more games.

I'm very happy with the way this team has been playing lately. I say that unless an absolutely-can't-miss offer comes up, we stay with what we have...and going to the playoffs :)

Apparently you didn't see the game last night. Cato came in, made some great plays (both defensively and offensively) and really kept things going while Yao rested. The Rockets NEED Cato. We don't need any head cases like Sprewell, who is on the down side of his career anyway. Leave this team alone -- it is a deep, talented team without any more tweaking.

As much as this trade might help basketballwise Spree would be awfully hard to stomach in a Rockets uni. Houston in Houston would be much more acceptable (Houston, Doleac for Cato, Mo and Boki?).

Brian Grant, Theo Ratliff, and maybe Stromile Swift or Kurt Thomas--those might be some realistic guys.

Rudy traded Horry (rescinded when Elliott failed his physical) and OT midstream in championship seasons to tinker with the pieces. We won’t trade just to trade, but if an advantageous trade is out there where Rudy/Dawson thinks the guy is a better fit for what we need than what we give up he will pull the trigger. You can count on Yao, Franchise and Cat not being involved however and if a trade is done it is to relatively immediately tinker/upgrade the 4 spot or the 3 spot.

I wouldn’t be that surprised about Grant or Ratliff as discussed in the “Smell a four spot trade…..” thread I reopened yesterday. I honestly think such a move might get us in the picture as a top 5 contender this year. As it is now we are looking like a pretty dangerous potential spoiler to someone like the Kings or Mavs.

Don't knock Collier. Big men take time. He's not hurting anything on the IR, and he's better than just good insurance against injury. He's also a good team chemistry guy (good attitude, good heart).

Trading for Spree could be a gamble if you give up Mo and Kelvin. IF Ming hits the rookie wall, can we trust Jason Collier to give us quality minutes at Center? I dont think so. So if the Rockets can get Spree for Mo and Kelvin - No way they do it. Its to big of a gamble, and I dont think Cat could handle being the 4th option. That would be asking to much of the guy.

I compleatly agree with you this is the team of the future

Now maybe in the offseason youthey do something OR if a cant miss comes up and Rudy and CD think it will help the team ok

But I have to agree we need Cato now more than ever he is earning his paycheck this year and he keeps Yao from playing all the mins........

Everone is forgetting that if the new Fanchise comes into being we can only protect 8 players under contract. KT and Hawkins could resign later on but we might loose MoT, and Moochie Norris etc. and get nothing for them! So a consolidation might be inorder by Trades. We should protect Francis, Yao Ming, Mobley,Griffin,Morris,Nachbar Cato and Maddox. Please dont suggest bringing Spree from NY. his character just wont work with our Players and Coach .

The Rockets are STILL ONE PLAYER SHORT of going anywhere far. WE NEED A SF!! We need a SF that can make teams pay for leaving him alone at the 3 point line, somebody that can slash to the basket and some one that is a WE player and not a ME player.

Who that is? One of the Barry kids would do, but somebody that can hit the 3 pointer like Matt Bullard could (at any time).

But all the non-traders on this board, have to admit that a solid SF would go better with this team then Moochie Norris taking all the SF minutes.
