What would be the best brand as far as comfort and less shock on the knees?

I had knee reconstruction years ago and running on concrete bothers the joint so it's a treadmill or rubber school track for me.

Mainly I need the cardio, I'm down to my target weight but my stamina is wayy lacking. I had a pair of Adidas megabounce but since I'm just a novice I know there are better options out there and hope some of you more serious runners can help. Thanks in advance!

My advice would be to go someplace like Luke's Locker and have them help you. They'll try different shoes and have you run on a treadmill. They'll watch the way you're running and help you pick the shoe that's best for you.

I was having foot pain and was unable to run when a friend suggested I go there. They looked at my feet and watched me run and it turns out I had low arches and didn't realize it and I was overpronating. I tried about 5 different pairs of shoes in brands like Brooks and Saucony but ended up liking a pair of Asics the best. I haven't had foot pain since and am now running about 10 miles a week.

As Phillyrocket said, New Balance is a great brand. Add Mizuno, Brooks, Saucony and ASICSs to that list.

Go to their websites and use their shoe finder for the criteria you want. Runner's World is also a great resource for reviews and their forum.

Fleet Feet is my go to store when I'm in Houston and Chicago, Hill Country Running Co. in Austin, and Jackrabbit in NYC. Good luck.

I work at adidas outlet mall on 290, and my advice for you is to buy the best performance shoe you can buy, regardless of nike, adidas, new balance, ect. (all in the same) it matters what feels comfortable to you honestly. ALSO you should remember to change shoe every 3 months, doesn't matter what kind, every shoes should be changed.

    Asics Nimbus series

Ample cushion and feedback, great arch support, very comfortable, breathable, and light.

I've been running 16 miles per week in the Nimbus 11's and they do not let me down.

I believe they're on 12 (below). Will run you anywhere around $90 to $125

This is a very good shoe. I own the Nimbus 11, but as far as arch support it is better than most shoes at your local shoe store. If you are looking for very good arch support at a decent cost, go with the GT 2150's, if you are going to buy the Nimbus 11's I suggest trying the Kayano 16, they are way better!

I will have to say New Balance also. I used to get knee pain from running and playing basketball on Nike's, but never from New Balance. I also get much fewer blisters.

I run about 30 miles per week/1500 miles per year and generally I prefer New Balance. I choose the retro style (420) with the least amount of cushioning though. It is also the lightest set of shoes they make. I read the more cushioning your shoe has, the worse your foot/knee is in the long run.

For New Balance shoes, this is the best site with most selections and best deals I have found.

Mizuno. Always liked their running shoes the best. They usually feel the lightest and most breathable to me.

I agree with the previously mentioned brands, specifically New Balance and Asics in your case. Can't go wrong with either and typically the higher end models in each brand would be worth the money. Definitely seek professional advice from a footwear associate (I work in the footwear dept. at Academy) and whatever you do, do not buy Nike Shox. They are highly overrated as far as performance/comfort goes. Hope this helps a bit.

I love Nike Air Max shoes, especially the 360s. They are the most comfy running shoes I've ever worn but they don't have as much life in them as other running shoes though because the air bladders can't take as much mileage.

    +1 for Asics

I own the Gel Frantic 4's. They're the lightest and comfiest shoe's I've ever owned and they wash easily.

I have Asics as well. Run-Tex in Austin is another good shop that will help you find the right shoe, watching the way you run, etc.

I used to be a New Balance guy... but after I lost my job a few years ago and needed new running shoes, I tried Nike's Air Pegasus. They are half the cost of the top-of-the-line New Balance and I personally think they are a better shoe. They last MUCH longer than the New Balance for me.

I would try swimming or bike riding instead of running. You still get your cardio, but it provides even less stress than running on a treadmill or school track.

Everyone is different, but I had the worst knee pain while running until I went to the Nike Pegasus. They are incredible. There's a reason why they've come out with new versions of the same shoe every year since 1983.

my last 2 shoes are asics. bought the 1st one on a whim, n it turned out to be the lightest, most comfortable n breathable shoe ive ever had.
i replaced it after 2-3 yrs with another pair, 2140 i think. advertised as 'structured cushioning'. its harder n tougher, i guess itll last longer, but i still prefer the 1st one. doesnt have a model name or number though so no way i could find out its update :(
