I just played racquetball for the first time today and found it to be a good source of stress relief and exercise. I used to be the guy who made fun of people who played it and thought it was an old man's game. Anyone here play, and if so, what age group do you fit in?
Racquetball is a lot of fun. Used to play back when I went to UH. Played for about 6 months before entering a racquetball tournament up there. Got beat 15-1, 15-2. So I'll be in the 'Too bad I suck at it' category as well.
I know a 60-something year-old guy, with bilateral knee replacements, who is awesome at racquetball. He plays the walls and angles so well, he hardly has to move. His father, who is pushing 90, still enters the occasional tournament. Maybe it's just me that gets the exercise?
Used to play a lot when I was 12-14-ish...took lessons and all. I've been meaning to get back into it but the gym i used to go to only had one court.
I love to play racquetball, but only do so once a week, every other week if I'm lucky. It's a great way to sweat as the quick short sprints do the job...Problem is, it's hard to find people to play against...and the old guys are so much better and usually don't have to run
I agree with everyone else. **** old people. I have been wanting to get back into racquetball for a couple of years and you just reminded me to do so. I just got a membership at my local club.
28 and play frequently with a couple of friends. Racquetball is great exercise if both players are good but not too good. There is a point that you or someone else gets so good that there is much less running involved -- the ball ends up getting killed in the corner or base of the wall after a short volley.
I've played for many years, have entered and won tournaments. It's great exercise and very good for hand/eye coordination. No way anybody on this board comes within 10 points of me.
I did not see this post coming at all. Sounds/looks like a fun activity to try... where do people play, though?
? why is that? I'm in very good physical condition (srs), which is half the battle in racquetball. I'm now repeating the "insanity" workout and it's easy for me.
Whoops. I forgot the sarcasm rolleyes! Just going off your bbs persona, if I had to guess what sport you play I'd of course guess racquetball. And that you're the best? But of course!!
Raquetball is hella fun. I've been meaning to find a 24hr Fitness to start playing, seeing since I dominated when I took Raquetball classes as GE requirements in college.
So from what I'm reading, it's a good workout if you're not really good at it. That's good. The only problem I can see is getting other people to play
I used to play squash, is that close enough? It's harder to play now though, as squash isn't really popular enough to have financially sustainable squash courts anymore. I'm 23. It's definitely a great workout.
