My college basketball band has started incorporating a few outkast songs into their playlist. I'm having trouble figuring out one of the songs though. The first few notes are solid blares from the horn section (sounds like you could march to it) and then next is mainly a few seconds of drums by themselves (the booty shake part). It repeats that for a few times. I also saw the famous Florida A&M band do a lil bit of booty shaking to this song when they played it. I figure any true outkast songs should pretty easily be able to help me.

Having heard Outkast too many times, a college band will only do one of four of their songs - Miss Jackson, The Whole World, Hey Ya, or THe Way You Move. From your crappy descriptions, I would have to say it's a good chance at Hey Ya due to its overplayed popularity (it's true). My only other reasoning is that I've heard 2 college bands in the past week playing it as well. I wouldn't discount Way You Move.

What about "Bombs over Baghdad"? Thats a real fast paced up tempo song. They have another one called "Land of a Million Drums."

How are rap songs hard to fiugre out? Aren't they just two notes played over and over until you want to kill somebody?

mr. meowgi there is a lot more to hiphop then what is played on the radio.

i have about 150 cds to prove that. along with another 400-500 of other cds of all diffrent types of music, and of quality; that i can compare the "2 beats played over and over music to."

that i then can conclude that it is good music.

I know that. I have been listening to rap since the early '80s. It's just easy to make fun of these days. And it drives me crazy at work when they put that new crap on. Rap is becoming a parody of itself.

Plus my funk collection probably destroys anyone else's on this bbs. :D

I checked out all the replies this morning by listening to snippets at cduniverse and so far no luck. I'm a rap fan so I know most of the outkast songs that are fairly popular, but this one eludes me. I wish I could just hum it to ya'll because I know someone would be able to pick it out in just a second, it has such a distinctive anthem-type feel to the beginning. My band usually plays a trio of outkast in a row. They start out with this mystery song, then hey ya, then the way you move. If nobody can figure it out I may just have to scour cduniverse.

Are you sure it's not this one ^^^^^? I've heard many bands play this same tune and it sounds just like what you mentioned.

Yeah Lil Pun, I'm positive because that's one of my favorite songs. I'd probably **** myself if I heard my band play that one!

Well, the most hype song that I've heard out team play is Shut Up by Trick Daddy...and that's more prevalent during the football games. In fact, that might be one of the only hype songs our band plays.

I find it pretty hilarious little old producer Kanye West came out and completely made the other clowns on Roc-a-Fella look bad
